Dr. Huo's Darling Keeps Getting into Trouble

Huo Ran picked up a little troublemaker.

Getting into trouble and coming home covered in bruises were everyday occurrences. Her mother was so exasperated she wanted to wash her hands of it, but whenever Song Jiayu, battered and bruised, hid behind Huo Ran and softly called her "big sister," Huo Ran's heart melted. For the rest of her life, she was at Song Jiayu's mercy.

Later, Song Jiayu kept causing trouble as usual. Under the tree, her mother was so anxious she nearly snapped her fan in two. "Jiayu, get down here!"

Huo Ran treated her wounds, her voice cold and stern. "When are you going to stop making everyone worry?" Yet her fingertips burned with tenderness.

Song Jiayu grinned, perfectly unapologetic. "As long as Big Sister keeps an eye on me, that's all that matters."

Huo Ran thought: She's my little sister, so of course I'll spoil her...

Later still, Song Jiayu leaned close. "Big Sister, will you marry me someday?"

"...Who, who said I was going to marry you?" Huo Ran stammered.

"When you grow up," she added.

"And what happens when I grow up?"

"Then you can marry me."
