Minglan’s Joy, Dyed in Ashes

Chu Minglan is a powerful princess who holds sway over the court, while Shen Jinhuan is the dignified and resplendent empress of the dynasty.

Custom stands between them, but it cannot overcome their longing for each other.

As a child, Chu Minglan gazed up at her mother's splendid phoenix robes, hiding an unspoken admiration in her eyes.

At the time, she didn't understand why a gentle smile could make her heart race out of control.

"Mother, your daughter wants to stay by your side forever."

"Silly child, you'll grow up one day and find a home of your own."

But her home had already taken root in her heart.

She had fallen in love with someone she should never love.

Within the palace walls, a forbidden love takes root.

That day, she finally tore away her disguise and knelt before the empress. Her voice trembled, but her words were firm:

"I love you... not with the love of a daughter for her mother, but... as a woman loves a woman."

Shen Jinhuan's phoenix eyes turned cold. She swept her sleeve aside and rebuked her angrily:

"Absurd! Do you know what you're saying?!"

Chu Minglan looked up, tears glistening in her eyes, but her resolve did not waver:

"I love you. What have I done wrong?"

So what if society won't accept them? She'll defy heaven itself!
