Sinking

Ruan Tang hit a disastrous snag the first time she met her boyfriend's family.

When she pushed open the carved double doors, she never imagined that the mother her boyfriend described as "running a little business" was actually Shen Zhiwei, the formidable head of the Shen Group.

Dressed in a bespoke black suit, Shen Zhiwei fixed Ruan Tang with a gaze as sharp as a blade behind her gold-rimmed glasses.

"Sit."

That single word made Ruan Tang's fingertips tremble.

Only later did she realize:

The cup of black tea Shen Zhiwei personally handed her was a carefully laid trap;

Those seemingly casual touches were part of a hunt long in the making;

And those video calls that always came late at night...

On the other end, Shen Zhiwei unbuttoned the top button of her shirt.

"Now," she said, lifting Ruan Tang's chin with a cool fountain pen,

"are you still going to call me Auntie?"

Bonus scene:

One day, her ex-boyfriend showed up. "Mom, you can't..."

Shen Zhiwei slipped an arm around the slender waist of the woman in her embrace. "Call me President Shen."

She taught me herself how to defy my superior

I thought I was meeting the parents, but the parent ran off with me instead
