Three months after Bai Heng and Lan Ze argued and broke up, Bai Heng presented as an Omega.

At twenty-five, he was a late-blooming Omega. As soon as he presented, he was sent straight to an isolation ward, where he was kept for half a month.

The isolation ward doors could only be opened when the time was up. For some reason, the doctors never brought him suppressants.

His heat was unbearable. The pain of presenting so late was worse than death. Bai Heng tossed and turned, struggling, his wrists covered in bite marks from his own teeth.

His phone was almost out of power. On the day the isolation ward doors opened, Bai Heng found the world outside had become hell.

Blood was everywhere. Several rotting corpses lay scattered across the ground. Not far away, a few stiff-limbed people shuffled over and crouched down to keep gnawing on the bodies.

Zombies ran rampant, turning the world into a living hell. In just fifteen days, the city had fallen. Zombies howled everywhere.

The water and power were out, traffic had ground to a halt, and the dead outnumbered the living.

Bai Heng was bitten while fleeing. A zombie's teeth marks were left on his gland, and he found somewhere to wait for death.

When he opened his eyes, though, he saw his ex-boyfriend.

Lan Ze stared at Bai Heng, his voice trembling as he asked, "When did you present? Do you have an Alpha?"

Bai Heng's mind was completely blank. He couldn't remember much, so he nodded along with what the man had said.

Then he saw the man's eyes turn red in an instant. He punched the door, leaving a deep dent in it.

Bai Heng: "..."

He's scarier than the zombies.

But he vaguely recalled a few fragments. He thought he might have married his childhood friend.

Leaning against the headboard, Su Xingze touched his gland, found no temporary mark, and asked curiously, "We've been married for three years, and you've never marked me?"

Looking at the fresh, prominent gland, Lu Xingwen's taut nerves finally snapped. He got up and left the hospital room.

On the day Su Xingze was discharged, he was still asleep when Lu Xingwen forced a temporary mark on him.

Su Xingze woke from his sleep and clung tightly to Lu Xingwen. "Ow, it hurts..."

His childhood friend seemed different now, not as gentle and easygoing as before. He bit especially hard, and Su Xingze couldn't stop him even when he pushed.

Lu Xingwen knew Su Xingze had changed after that serious illness at seventeen.

He wasn't like Su Xingze, wasn't like his childhood friend. He was more like...someone else.

He knew Su Xingze had been lying to him all along.

He knew Su Xingze had never loved him.

He also knew Su Xingze was using his money to support someone else.

But he couldn't help it. He kept waiting for his childhood friend to come back.

Heaven had shown him favor. Su Xingze had lost his memory and remembered nothing. The lively, adorable person who was like a little sun had returned.

This time, he would never let go. Even if he had to imprison the person he loved, he would keep him by his side.
