All his life, Lu Xing has heard his parents say that he can't date before graduating from college.
They especially like comparing him to a boy his age who often wanders around the courtyard of their housing complex.
His parents say, "Don't you dare imitate that guy with the earrings and the eyebrow piercing. He's a delinquent. I heard he beat up a few classmates the other day. Stay away from him."
Lu Xing has heard it so often he's nearly grown calluses on his ears. But he's socially anxious and really doesn't like talking to delinquents, much less getting involved with them.
In his sophomore year, the drama club recruits new members. Lu Xing gets his first close-up look at this "delinquent." He's wearing a white shirt and track pants, with a black obsidian stud in his right ear.
He looks pretty well-behaved, Lu Xing thinks.
Two months later, the two are head over heels in love, inseparable and always together.
But everyone thinks they're a bad match: one is impossibly well-behaved, while the other is impossibly good at putting on an act.
Lu Xing doesn't see it that way. Everyone must be biased!
Yan Moye is clearly wonderful. He's so gentle with Lu Xing, often brings him little cakes, and has never been possessive.
When Lu Xing says he doesn't want their relationship made public, Yan Moye takes care to keep it under wraps. He even considers Lu Xing's social anxiety, often asking how he feels.
He's practically the best boyfriend ever!
Even when Lu Xing wants to take things further, Yan Moye turns him down.

Whenever his parents bring it up on the phone, Lu Xing always argues, "You can't judge by appearances. You have to look at what's inside!"
Then one day, Lu Xing goes out with his roommates and returns to the dorm late. He sees Yan Moye on the street.
Yan Moye is dressed as neatly as he is during the day, but his fists land harder with every punch as he fights.
Lu Xing freezes in the cold wind.
After getting to know Yan Moye better, he discovers that Yan Moye loves extreme sports, loves feeling as close to death as possible, and loves taking possession of the things he cares about.
Only then does Lu Xing realize that Yan Moye is a vicious dog by nature, but acts well-behaved around him because he's loved Lu Xing since they were children.
Whenever Lu Xing is in front of him, Yan Moye keeps himself in check. But out of Lu Xing's sight, he's already so overwhelmed he's nearly dizzy, consumed by aggression.
Lu Xing is the last barrier holding back the beast. Without that barrier, the madness in Yan Moye's bones can no longer be contained.
He wants Lu Xing to see no one but him, to kiss him until he cries, to pin him to the bed and take him, to keep him locked by his side forever.
But he can't. That's Lu Xing.
A mad, vicious dog who pretends to be gentle, considerate, and understanding × a socially anxious, honest, beautiful man
