A Refugee's Daily Life: Settling Down and Running a Food Stall

When she woke up, rich heiress Li Lingling found herself in a war-torn era. Her original body had died from bloating after eating clay.

Just when life seemed hopeless, she heard the good news announced outside with gongs and drums: the new emperor had ascended the throne and unified the land. Refugees could settle down, and farmland was being distributed.

Li Lingling breathed a sigh of relief and started figuring out how to survive.

Seeing her limping mother hide her blistered, swollen hand as she brought over honey water, and her brother, who was missing an arm, struggle to swing a hoe and clear the land, Li Lingling was deeply moved. She rolled up her sleeves and went to set up a stall.

After all, the Li family had started out with a little stall and worked their way to prosperity.

She herself was only twenty, but had already been a child laborer for eighteen years.

Besides having good cooking skills, she knew that she needed to pinpoint what each customer wanted:

For now, she needed to sell steaming hot, spicy barbecue beside the government offices, hawk local specialties to traveling merchants at the docks, and sell nourishing soups in wealthy neighborhoods...

Later, diners from all over the city chased Li Lingling's food cart: "Chef Ling, I'll rent you my shop for free!"

"Shopkeeper Ling, I'm done with work at the government office! Don't run away when you see me!"

"Shopkeeper, can I book a spot for the day after tomorrow?"

"Aaaah, why can't I buy anything even after you opened a shop?"

"Can you open a branch?"
