Yue Luoti was a low-ranking goddess. After finally completing her trials in the mortal realm and returning to the divine realm, a marriage decree sent her off to wed a demon lord.
Jingshuilou, the Demon Lord, ruled over the three realms of demons, monsters, and ghosts. He was unruly and notorious. The divine realm had always considered him a grave threat, but his unfathomable cultivation made it impossible to kill him.
The gods reached a decision: under the pretense of a political marriage, they would send the young goddess to the Demon Lord and have her take the opportunity to eliminate him.
But on their wedding night, the Demon Lord saw through the divine realm's scheme. He snatched the demon-slaying weapon hidden beneath her wedding robes, pinned her to the bridal bed, and sneered, "Goddess, you think you can take me?"
Yue Luoti's life was hanging by a thread, but there was one piece of good news: she knew the Demon Lord's face, and knew it well.
The bad news: he was the ex-boyfriend she'd dumped during her mortal trial.
Luckily, the Demon Lord didn't recognize her. To stay alive, she had no choice but to use the tricks he'd liked best in her past life to flatter and appease him.
Everything went smoothly. She survived at the Demon Lord's side, then personally killed him when he was most deeply in love with her.
The world was rid of the Demon Lord Jingshuilou, and the goddess Yue Luoti became famous overnight. The divine realm thought it could finally rest easy, but hundreds of years later, the Demon Lord came back from the dead and led an army against the gods. They were no match for him, and the goddess became a sacrifice offered to the Demon Lord.
Everyone thought Jingshuilou would grind the goddess to dust. Even Yue Luoti herself believed it.
But when she was dragged before him, she saw him shrouded in a fierce aura of resentment, his eyes fixed on her and gleaming with a chilling, bloody light. Yet what he asked was, "You said you loved me. Were you pretending the whole time?"
