By the time Victor Blackthorne realized he had arrived in a city unlike anything he had ever heard of or seen, the hour of evening prayer (sunset) had already passed.
Towering buildings stood everywhere, each one hundreds of feet tall.
On the smooth black roads, strange, square metal beasts on wheels roared as they raced back and forth, with humans in bizarre clothes riding inside them.
It looked like some kind of alchemical city.
But whoever created this place had questionable taste. Everything was pitch-black.
[Dear Duke, it is time for dinner.]
[...]
[Your Grace, please stop playing your boring game of hide-and-seek. If dinner gets cold, the head chef will be very angry.]
Dear Catherine, it’s not that I don’t want dinner. I really can’t eat.
The lord who had been cruelly thrown into another world was close to tears, starving until his eyes glazed over.
Just as he was at a loss, a huge... reflection of a golden bat symbol suddenly appeared in the stormy sky?
Victor figured the lord of this place must be using some godlike alchemical machine to project his emblem into the sky.
If he could find the lord, or someone wearing that emblem, he would surely understand what was going on, right?
The Gotham Knight was as annoying as ever tonight.
Especially since some alchemist claiming to be a neighboring lord had inexplicably started following him everywhere.
It was extremely irritating.
So he decided to gift the guy a day trip to Arkham.
