Who's the Mafia, Anyway?

Elliot Wilde, an elite CIA agent, is vacationing in Italy when he stumbles upon a Mafia shootout. Out of compassion, he saves an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. When the man wakes up, the first thing he asks is, "Which family are you with?"

Him? A fine young man with a spotless background, gentle manners, and an optimistic outlook?

He looks like a mafioso?

Elliot asks in confusion, casually tossing a kitchen knife to pin a bullet that flies in through the window to the wall.

"All right," says the innocent bystander. "You're not one. I am."

Elliot always thought he was joking. Until years later, at the succession ceremony for the Mafia godfather, he realizes the ruthless new godfather from all the rumors looks remarkably familiar.

"So you were serious?!"

*Alternate universe setting. Agent/godfather (the slash has no particular meaning), two strong leads, enemies and lovers.
