Please Give Me a Sunflower

"She counted the time difference with twenty-seven bellflowers, while she tucked all of spring into a suitcase."

The photographer who stumbled into her arms on a stormy night carried the scent of developing fluid, and planted a sunflower in the notebook of Lin Wanxing, a florist.

The lens cap of Su Yuqing's camera was always flecked with moss from foreign lands. Her collarbone tattoo and the iris drawn in leaking fountain-pen ink overlapped in the rain's mist, forming a riddle.

When Yunnan's blue jacarandas met Iceland's polar night, a branch broken by the storm revealed an astonishing truth in the darkroom: those Wednesday afternoons at three that everyone mistook for goodbyes had long ago been forged into a clock, its bellflower seeds carrying them through the endless night.

I mend your broken lens cap, and you knock over the sunflowers I kept safe.

Before the aurora appears, which of us will first hear a seed break through the soil?

▼ A gentle, stoic florist x a romantic, wandering photographer

▼ Plant-inspired time difference / secret love turned mutual / saving each other

▼ "So you turned the storm that soaked me into a Milky Way to water the aurora."
