Please Don't Make Things Difficult for the Grand Princess

At court, the emperor uses the excuse that "the Eldest Princess is over twenty and still unmarried, which goes against women's virtue" to force her to marry Shen Du, a top-ranked candidate from a humble family.

The entire court is in an uproar: the princess marrying a commoner? This is clearly an insult!

The princess overturns the imperial desk on the spot. "I won't marry him!"

Shen Du kneels outside the hall and calmly accepts the decree. "Your servant accepts the decree and thanks Your Majesty for this favor."

That night, the princess sends someone to "persuade" Shen Du to call off the wedding.

Instead, Shen Du hands over a letter containing just one sentence: "I am willing to be the blade in Your Highness's hand and cut down everyone who displeases you."
