Wild Grass and Wild Grass

Two orphans in a ruined temple lived like wild grass.

Like grass growing wild in the wind, they were born with no one to rely on, yet by winding around each other, they put down roots strong enough to stand against the whole world.

A Mang thought that all she had to do in this life was protect A Qi, survive the winter, then wait for the next spring.

Only later did she understand that what she had to protect was more than A Qi's life.

It was the light in A Qi's eyes when she smiled at her.

It was the warmth of A Qi turning in her sleep and instinctively burrowing into her arms in the middle of the night.

It was the night A Qi came of age, when she lay awake until dawn, unable to think of anything but the face she had looked at for ten years.

The world said, what could two women amount to?

But wild grass insists on blooming.

A Mang thought: Let heaven and earth say what they will, A Qi is where she belongs.

Theme: Even in adversity, little flowers can bloom
