The Grand Princess Is Here

Lin Shuyu transmigrates into the daughter of a low-ranking Ministry of Rites official in the Great Sheng dynasty. She opens her eyes to find her family ruined and herself in the middle of a failed attempt to drown herself in a well.

The dynasty is on the road to collapse. The emperor is incompetent and lost in wine and women, while eunuchs and powerful relatives control the court.

What the history books fail to record is that the seemingly gentle and dignified Princess Consort Xiao Mingyue already has a blade hidden in her sleeve, ready to turn the world upside down.

After Lin Shuyu makes a stunning impression, the princess dismisses her attendants. "Miss Lin, who exactly are you?"

Seeing ambition in the other woman's eyes, Lin Shuyu suddenly smiles. "Your Highness, would you like to hear a story about how a woman can sit on the dragon throne?"

[Interlude]

On the eve of the new emperor's enthronement ceremony, the Censorate submits a joint memorial: "Your Majesty should take an imperial consort to secure the realm."

Xiao Mingyue burns the memorial in open court. Firelight illuminates her smiling eyes. "I already have the love of my life."

She turns toward Lin Shuyu, who is dozing behind the beaded curtain. "My dear minister, I still have a question about the third point in the cabinet's draft memorial system you explained last night."

The assembled court officials watch the legendary female official who single-handedly restructured the Six Ministries rub her eyes and walk out. She naturally accepts the tea the emperor offers and takes a sip. "Oh, that..."

Later, the history books record: Emperor Yongchang, the woman who ruled the empire, never took an imperial consort. She shared her meals and bed with the Lin family female official, and they governed together for forty years, ushering in the prosperous Zhaoyue era. As they clasped hands in their final moments, a faded peach blossom note lay between them, bearing eight characters:

"The realm is my betrothal gift; history is our witness."
