He felt like he'd been scammed.

Until one time, Xu Jingshen returned from a business trip, and Ming Lang didn't go to meet him because he was celebrating a friend's birthday. After the party, just as he was about to head home, he opened his phone to find another six-hundred-word essay.

He skimmed the first half and went straight to the last line:
