Cutie Ghost

"Everyone in this world has all kinds of ghosts hidden in their hearts: miserly ghosts, annoying ghosts, gambling ghosts, poor ghosts... But I'm different."

On Halloween, the university campus was brightly lit and dazzling. In a shadowy corner, Jiang Qiansui, wearing a white cloak with two big black holes over her eyes, propped up her head and spoke earnestly to the ghosts beside her.

"I'm a lovable ghost whom everyone adores."

The ghosts crouched beside her, taking a break: "..."

Only during holidays like this can ghosts of every kind show themselves.

They grow stronger by feeding on other people's fright.

So beneath all the extravagant and bizarre Halloween costumes, some are people,

and some might be... ghosts.

But she was weak and could never scare anyone. She was always getting bullied, too.

Still, she couldn't give up, because the weakest ghosts would be erased from the human world.

Jiang Qiansui glanced over the packed crowd,

then quietly drifted into a pitch-black little room,

ready to scare whoever came in.

Hearing slow footsteps, she immediately lit a small, ghostly green lamp and tucked it inside her clothes. Waiting for the right moment, she leaped out

"Boo!!!"

One second, two seconds...

The silence grew painfully awkward.

A boy half a head taller than her stood an arm's length away, hands in his pockets. He froze, then looked at her in confusion.

She hadn't scared anyone again.

Seeing this, Jiang Qiansui drooped her head.

She turned around dejectedly, planning to look for her next target.

The boy noticed her crestfallen expression.

After a moment's thought, he decided to play along and let out a cry.

"...Ah."

Staring at the bright, clear eyes behind the two black holes on her face,

he couldn't help laughing.

"So you're a cute little ghost. You scared me to death."

Jiang Qiansui: "..."

If you're going to pretend, can't you at least do it properly?
