One night at ten, after coming home late from working overtime, I suddenly received a strange text from my best friend, Song An:
“Shu Yu, I regret it. I don't want to marry Jiang Lingge anymore.”
Jiang Lingge was Song An's fiance. He had been our high school classmate, too, though the three of us only got reacquainted at work seven years later.
What surprised me was that Song An had secretly loved Jiang Lingge in high school.
Now, she had finally gotten what she wanted.
So she wouldn't regret it that easily.
I called to ask what had happened, but Song An's phone was unreachable. When I rushed to her house, anxious and uneasy, I got a call from the police.
Song An had killed herself.
I couldn't believe someone as cheerful as her would take her own life without warning. Instinctively, I thought of that strange text.
I suspected Jiang Lingge might have something to do with Song An's death,
so I decided to get an explanation from him.
But from that day on, he disappeared.
He vanished without a trace, as if he had evaporated from the world.
Then one day, at ten at night,
I saw Jiang Lingge outside my door and walked toward him.
At 10:01, time rewound.
With Jiang Lingge within arm's reach, I returned to seven years earlier,
to our high school days.
This time, as I watched the unusual look in Song An's eyes when she gazed at Jiang Lingge,
I lowered my eyes and took a deep, trembling breath.
If time had turned back, then if I severed the ties that should never have existed,
would the future change?
But later, whenever I thought I had changed the future,
the needle of fate would turn back to its original position once more.
[Two loops, two rescues.]
“Shu Yu, can the sun be blue?”
“Of course.”
Because beneath the Klein blue sun, you can be whoever you want to be.
