Please Don’t Give Me a Sickly Character Setting

After a mission left him on the brink of death, Fuyuki Haru, once the organization’s top assassin, stepped back from the front lines and was left with a body that coughed up blood from time to time. No one knew that while unconscious, Fuyuki Haru had dreamed of the past and the future. In the dream, his childhood friend, who scoffed at romance, locked him in a spacious safe house after he fell ill. The corners of the furniture had been rounded off, and anything that could be used as a weapon was confiscated. His new partners, who had just received their code names, Whiskey, came and went through the safe house, their eyes filled with emotions he had never seen before. As for Fuyuki Haru, frail and sickly, he had no strength to resist. Each day, there were only a few things he had to do. Eat, sleep, and get thoroughly ravished. Fuyuki Haru: …So why exactly is this happening? [In short, this is the world of a novel,] a voice in his head said. [As for why, well, it’s not exactly a wholesome novel.] Fuyuki Haru jolted awake. Sitting up in his hospital bed, he heard the heart monitor beside him blaring an alarm. His emotions had stirred up a coughing fit that wouldn’t stop. A hand patted his back with just the right amount of force. Fuyuki Haru’s face was deathly pale, and his golden eyes reflected the faces of his partners. Their voices sounded worried as they asked how he was feeling. From that moment on Fuyuki Haru decided to save himself. - In the third year since he had volunteered to go undercover in the Port Mafia, Fuyuki Haru was seeing much less of his childhood friend and partners. He breathed a sigh of relief and soon fell peacefully asleep, but then his old dream began to change. The layout was the same, but the safe house had moved, and a few more people were coming and going. Fuyuki Haru woke again and opened his eyes in the dark. His soft lips were colorless, his breathing ragged. It took him two seconds to realize that the coat covering him belonged to a Port Mafia executive. “Fuyuki,” his executive superior said with a smile. “You kept calling everyone’s names in your sleep.” [Go home, go home, my child.] After three years, the voice in his head shook its head and sighed once more. [Taking the civil service exam is your only way out. Keep this up and you really will be beyond saving.] Fuyuki Haru fell silent. Fuyuki Haru lay back down on the sofa and stared at the ceiling, unwilling to speak. - Whether they belonged to the Black Organization or the Port Mafia, everyone had the same opinion of Fuyuki Haru. He looked so frail that a breeze might knock him over, yet once he picked up a gun, he was strong and confident. Flames from an explosion blazed behind him, and the violent coughing left moisture clinging to his lashes. Whenever he saved you and you anxiously asked if he was all right, Executive Fuyuki’s beautiful face would break into a smile. He would gently say he was fine, thank you, then lower his eyes and calmly lay out every step of the mission. “So where is Executive Fuyuki now?” a new member of the organization asked. “That’s not something you should bring up.” Vodka stared into the distance. “Ever since Big Brother found a box of civil service exam books in his room, they’ve been beating each other up on the training ground for two hours.” New recruit: ??? What exam? What civil service? We can take civil service exams in this line of work? ● Written for my personal tastes. The main content warnings are already in the blurb. Perhaps that’s why most members of the Port Mafia never dare approach him. Kirishima Mitsuki’s name has become synonymous with terror, and the moment he steps into headquarters, the area within three meters of him becomes a no-go zone. Then one day, Kirishima Mitsuki accidentally became bound to a mind-reading System and heard his subordinates’ thoughts. [Got chewed out by Executive Kirishima for ten minutes after failing my mission. What level is that?] [An enviable level.] [When Executive Kirishima throws a punch, you smell his fragrance before it reaches you. Though if it lands, you’ll probably die.] [Not a single person cares that you’ve all talked to Executive Kirishima. Hilarious. I’m not even upset.] Kirishima Mitsuki kept a blank expression and glanced at his subordinates, all of them with their heads down and treating him like a monster. He assumed he was so busy that he was hallucinating. But the inexplicable voices grew more and more intense. Then one day, they suddenly changed into [Kirishima sure likes taking Chuuya along on missions. Wonder what Chuuya did to pull that off. Maybe tomorrow I’ll tell him Chuuya went to the police station late at night to turn himself in and is planning to quit the Port Mafia and go to prison.] [Where did Q learn to act so pitiful? Hey, Kirishima can’t possibly fail to notice that Q inflicted those injuries on himself… Oh, he really didn’t notice. Is Dazai just going to sit there staring without saying a word, like he’s turned mute?] [Hehe, I’ll frame Dazai first, then Chuuya. Mitsuki will be all mine.] “Dazai.” After a brief silence, Kirishima Mitsuki narrowed his eyes, trying to decide whether the voice he’d heard was trustworthy. “Are you in touch with the police?” Dazai blinked and innocently replied, “Nope.” “Oh.” Kirishima Mitsuki relaxed. “Then it’s fine.” System: What do you mean, it’s fine?! Something is definitely wrong! How could that be what you focus on?! Wake up! Please, wake up! - As a member of Public Security, Kazami Yuuya had heard that while Furuya was at the police academy, he had a fellow student who was skilled at both sniping and hand-to-hand combat. They graduated from the academy together and joined Public Security together. Although the fellow officer had flouted regulations by keeping his long silver hair, nobody questioned whether it would interfere with his work after he repeatedly delivered flawless results. “So where is he now…?” “He died protecting a hostage.” Furuya Rei spoke casually, then immediately resumed his usual Bourbon demeanor. “The coroner examined his body. That was when we discovered he’d lied about his age. He was only twenty when he died.” Kazami Yuuya looked at the photograph in the file and felt deep respect for the officer named “Kirishima.” Then, one day, Kazami Yuuya saw Kirishima Mitsuki at an operation site, with one foot planted on someone’s head. The young man’s expression was cool and indifferent. His long hair slid off his shoulder as he looked down. Seeing Kazami frozen in place, he was just about to frown [!! Wait, Chief Furuya! Kirishima isn’t dead! He went undercover! What should I do? Did I just show up out of nowhere and mess up the higher-ups’ plan?] Kirishima Mitsuki: … Kirishima Mitsuki was stunned. What undercover operation? Did Public Security know that he’d once infiltrated the police as an undercover agent to get information?? Kirishima Mitsuki mused: The Japanese Public Security Bureau is terrifying. Maybe I should kill him now to eliminate any future trouble. Theme: From evasion to resistance, move forward bravely
