Having a Handsome Ex-Boyfriend Is Seriously So Cool

*

Xingjian Qingniao is a nobody. Hoping to add some color to her high school years, she decides to find someone to date. After searching online for ages, she finally finds a boyfriend who's tall, long-legged, sporting eight-pack abs, and so ridiculously handsome that bragging about him after they break up would be totally awesome.

Her boyfriend is clingy, annoying, jealous, possessive, and suspicious. If she takes even a second too long to reply, he bombards her with messages. Qingniao is starting to regret it. Maybe she should have chosen someone less clingy.

Dating is really exhausting, and dating Gojo Satoru is even more exhausting. But when she imagines bragging after their breakup that her ex was an incredibly handsome, super-clingy guy, and that her coolness level will leave everyone else in the dust, Qingniao feels ready to keep enduring it.

She waits and waits, until finally her clingy boyfriend seems to grow a little distant. She seizes the opportunity, breaks up with him, and blocks and deletes him before he can reply.

Then she happily brags to her childhood friend, whom she hasn't seen in ages: "You know, I used to have a really handsome boyfriend. But he was way too clingy, so I had to break up with him."

Her childhood friend's eyes darken. His foxlike eyes suddenly curve into a smile, and he says cheerfully, "I never would have guessed you'd date someone else, Qingniao..."

Xingjian Qingniao looks around furtively, and only after making sure no one's nearby does she lean toward her childhood friend and whisper, "Because, don't you think having a super-handsome ex-boyfriend sounds really cool?"

Her childhood friend asks thoughtfully, "What do you think of me, Qingniao? Do I count as a handsome guy?"

Xingjian Qingniao blinks, looks him up and down, and nods in praise. "Sure. Jie, you're really handsome!"

"Then don't you think," Geto Suguru says, tapping his fingers against his coffee cup with a clear, steady rhythm, "having both a super-handsome ex-boyfriend and a super-handsome current boyfriend is even cooler?"

"Huh?"

Xingjian Qingniao doesn't think she quite understands what her childhood friend means, but before she can figure it out, her ex-boyfriend, whom she broke up with, blocked, and deleted in one fell swoop, suddenly appears and drapes an arm around her childhood friend's back as if they're on excellent terms.

"Suguru, what are you doing here? Are you on a da..."

Gojo Satoru's words abruptly stop. He looks at the familiar figure sitting across from his best friend and demands, word by word, "Qingniao."

"Why aren't you replying to my messages?"

"Why did you break up with me?"

"Why did you block me?"
