[A story set in the mortal world of the Eastern Continent, part of the Four Lands: A Gazetteer of Past and Present series]
[In short: An assassin who excels at using beauty to ensnare targets loves luring them into the abyss, but never expected one day to fall into a web of affection they wove together.]

Rumor has it that the martial world's assassin organization, "Mayfly," has a male-female duo known as the Twin Fiends. The "Viper" is a stunningly beautiful woman, while the "Tiger" is a scar-faced brute.
The pair of assassins have run rampant across the martial world for years. The authorities have kept their wanted posters up for years, yet still haven't managed to capture them.
Beside a wanted poster, Jimo Hui slurps noodles and points to the portraits of the Twin Fiends, teasing his companion, a stunningly beautiful man with a figure to match: "Xingfeng, that big guy is you."
Hu Xingfeng taps the head of the gorgeous man across from him with his chopsticks, scolding him impatiently: "Can't even a bowl of plain noodles shut you up?"
Jimo Hui doesn't take offense and asks, "Who's our next target?"
"Plain noodles. Finish the noodles in your bowl! Don't make me feed them to you again later!!"
Though their personalities are very different, when carrying out missions they are remarkably alike in their frequent use of beauty to lure their targets into the abyss.
They never expected that one day they would fall for each other's charms, and from then on be trapped in a web of love, doomed beyond redemption.

The snake cannot hear the cries of other creatures.
It can only press its head to the ground and listen to the sounds of creatures moving across it, carried through the earth. From these sounds, it imagines all the myriad things in the world.
One day, it pressed its head to the ground again, and suddenly heard a tiger's roar that shook the mountains. The earth trembled, and the beasts were thrown into a panic.
Summoning its courage, it climbed onto the tiger and pressed its ear against the tiger's head, listening to the mighty roars that resounded throughout heaven and earth.
