The Minister Claims the Demon Consort

[Alluring beauty + minister stealing the emperor's wife + coercive pursuit + groveling for forgiveness]

As the throne changed hands, Li Ying secured an imperial edict making her a consort in exchange for her life.

The court was in an uproar. The ministers despised her and cursed her for having no shame.

The one who hated her most was Xie Xueming, elder brother of the new emperor's wife and the chief minister of the court.

So what?

She loved watching people hate her, unable to kill her, and so furious they could only stamp their feet.

Xie Xueming entered the palace to urge the new emperor to execute the wicked consort Li Ying. With a crash, the screen toppled over, revealing the beautiful woman hidden behind it.

The wicked consort had delicate features and an ethereal bearing. Her thick, dark hair had slipped over her slender shoulders. In a panic, she gathered her collar and fearfully hid behind the new emperor.

Xie Xueming looked up and saw her leaning her head against the emperor's shoulder. She smiled at him, her eyes seductive, her expression sly and triumphant.

The powerful minister, who commanded a hundred thousand troops and was as calculating as they came, suddenly thought of a phrase: a beauty who brings ruin to the realm.

Bewitching, sly, and utterly detestable.

In the third year after the wicked consort's death, the emperor passed away, and the chief minister took the reins as regent, wielding absolute power.

No one could have imagined that the usually restrained and principled chief minister would defy all propriety: not only would he unearth the wicked consort's tomb, he would also have music blaring and thousands of red candles lit beneath a canopy, defying all convention to welcome the dead wicked consort as his wife.

Little did anyone know that inside the bridal canopy, Li Ying was weeping and cursing under her breath, until she could no longer speak through her sobs.

Someone brushed away her tears, forcefully clasped her waist, and asked in a voice soft with fury, "Do you love them, or me?"
