Cultivation on Hold: Time to Ascend the Throne

The dynasty is in turmoil, the emperor has died suddenly, and the officials each harbor their own schemes. After much effort, they settle on Prince Jia as someone easy to bully.

Prince Jia was frail from birth, so a wandering Daoist took him away to nurse him back to health.

He should be an easy-to-control, foolish, awkward country boy.

Just as expected, when the young man returned, he was impoverished and shabby, with nothing but a sword to his name.

The officials advised him, “Your Majesty, it is inappropriate to bring a sword to the coronation ceremony.”

The young man smiled sheepishly. “Sorry, I’m a sword cultivator.”

After his coronation, the realm was beset by turmoil, both within and without.

He had little power. The officials had put him on the throne as a puppet emperor, he had no one to rely on, and everyone thought the country was doomed to fall sooner or later.

On the second day after his coronation, an army arrived at the city gates.

He didn’t know how to fight a war. After hesitating for a moment, he shouted, “Ten Thousand Swords Return to the Origin!”

In an instant, swords rained down, turning defeat into victory.

Officials: “...”

Commoners: “...”

Enemy kingdom: “...Is this right? Somebody save us!”

Later, someone asked him gravely, “Who exactly are you?”

“Oh, that.” He smiled. “I may be nothing special, but before becoming emperor, I was the number one sword cultivator in the immortal realm.”

.

Day N of being emperor.

He sprawled over his desk, writing a letter. “Master, I really don’t know how to be an emperor. I accidentally unified the world. Could you come down here and help me govern it?”
