Gin and Cointreau, two stunningly handsome, painfully lonely undercover agents.
*
Everyone in the Organization knows Gin has a dark past: he and Cointreau used to be partners.
Hanezu Chiaki, whose codename in the Organization is Cointreau, could hardly be more different from Kurosawa.
Gin is cold and aloof, always wearing a stern expression. Cointreau, on the other hand, is easygoing and approachable, smiling warmly at everyone. Gin hates undercover agents and kills without blinking; he's more skilled than anyone. Cointreau, by contrast, never thinks anyone looks like an undercover agent, sighs whenever killing comes up, and looks so frail that a couple of strong gusts of wind might make him sick. It seems the only thing he has going for him is his handsome face.
No one knows why they became partners in the first place, and no one understands how they managed to work together for so many years... But everyone can guess how they split up.
If anyone in the Organization knows Gin best and is most likely to get under his skin, it's Cointreau.
But he is also the only person in the Organization who can stand up to Gin face-to-face, tell him "don't kill anyone," and walk away unscathed.
The white-haired man codenamed Cointreau is frail, but his temper is unbelievably good. He can chat with anyone and sees everyone as a "good person." In his eyes, every member of the Organization is someone he can trust completely and place his faith in. He seems so "innocent" that it's hard to believe he came from the Organization.
As a result, one undercover agent after another gets lured into this whirlpool. They dive in intending to investigate him with suspicion, only to end up so dizzy and disoriented that they can't find their way out. Before long, they start seriously wondering whether they can turn Cointreau against the Organization and drag him out of its mire.
[Teacher and Student]
Rye first approached Hanezu Chiaki for the purest reason of all: to use him to join the Organization, to get close to its secrets, and to earn its trust.
Their so-called "teacher and student" relationship was born of Hanezu Chiaki's momentary appreciation of him, and became a stepping stone Rye used to exploit him.
But before his identity was exposed and he left the Organization, a certain black-haired agent sincerely asked him, before the Organization could hunt him down: "Once a teacher, always a teacher. That bond will never be false. Teacher, I haven't lied to you this time. Will you come with me to the FBI?"
[Enemy and Friend]
When Bourbon first approached Hanezu Chiaki, he was wary, suspecting that Cointreau was hiding behind another disguise within the Organization.
A "white" presence in the darkness always stands out and invites suspicion. Who could be sure it wasn't a carefully disguised trap?
But later, Bourbon asked a fellow undercover agent, his face filled with complicated pain: "Don't you think Cointreau is too easy to fool, and trusts the people around him too much? When he became Gin's partner, he was actually tricked into joining the Organization by him, wasn't he?"
After narrowly escaping the Organization's pursuit, that black-haired police officer, also an undercover agent, hesitantly asked him: "Have you ever thought about starting over someday, with a new identity and a new way of life, if the Organization falls?"
...Wait.
And then they all gave their hearts in earnest, only to be deceived and left devastated.
Only after the Organization fell and Gin and Cointreau both ran off did they realize the truth.
Those two bastards had been undercover agents from the start! They'd never even stopped being partners!!
And who the hell was that guy who could hit his target with every shot, take on ten people while coughing, and still win?!
Gin looked disdainful. "Isn't that obvious?"
Would he really have treated Hanezu Chiaki so well otherwise?
They were partners for twenty whole years, the most in-sync undercover team around, able to place complete trust in each other without ever needing to say a word.
Hanezu Chiaki smiled innocently. "Sorry, I fooled you. We're the real deal, the kind who never stopped being partners. But we're all undercover agents, so there's no need to make a fuss over something so minor, right?"

Bonus scene:
Hanezu Chiaki handed the thick stack of undercover-agent files he'd effortlessly conned out of them to the man beside him, a certain Qin: "See? Those undercover agents were no challenge. I lured them all out, didn't I?"
Kurosawa glanced at him. "Was fishing for evidence really that fun? Is that why you became 'the man rumored to be the best at fooling other men'?"
Hanezu Chiaki replied with righteous indignation: "This is the price they pay for being unfit undercover agents! It's a test from a senior agent!"
Hanezu Chiaki: It was fun. I'll do it again next time.jpg
*I'm just pretending with them. With you, it's the real thing (not really).
The other undercover agents, who had been fooled out of information and then had their feelings, friendship included, played with: Can't even smile.jpg
This will probably be a lighthearted, everyday sort of story. No heartbreak, and a genuinely happy ending.
*There will be OOC, lots of it. I wrote an absurdly handsome and lonely Gin, and gave him a partner. Did you really expect there to be no OOC?
*No romance pairing. Partnership and friendship only, not a reverse-harem story. The blurb is simply about the tragic comedy of inexperienced undercover agents going from suspicion to trust, only to be deceived by a veteran agent (not really).
Theme: Meet sincerity with sincerity.
