The Twentieth Year of Marriage to the Zerg Marshal

[Set in an entirely fictional world and unrelated to reality. Please don’t draw parallels to real life.] In the twentieth year of his marriage to Landry Hart, Wen Yu formally asked his female spouse for a divorce. Wen Yu and Landry’s marriage began with a matchmaking session arranged by the Male Insect Protection Association. Among a huge stack of female insect profiles, Wen Yu fell in love with Landry at first sight. After that, everything went unusually smoothly, from dating to marriage. During the first year of marriage, Wen Yu was very satisfied with his life: a warm, comfortable mansion and a tall, handsome, young and promising spouse. Even though he was far from home, Wen Yu felt that life wasn’t so hard to bear. It wasn’t until an accidental discovery that Wen Yu realized he had only imagined all of that. His spouse didn’t love him. In fact, Landry hated him. Landry had once smiled as he accepted the little cookies Wen Yu made, then turned around and threw them in the trash. Landry thought the lovingly prepared meals Wen Yu brought to the military were completely unnecessary. While drunk, his spouse revealed what he truly felt: even being touched by Wen Yu disgusted him. When Wen Yu learned the truth, he was surprisingly calm. He moved out of Landry’s house that very night and began preparing for the divorce. But the day after he moved out, Wen Yu was told that Landry was pregnant. Because of the insect race’s unique way of reproducing, Wen Yu had no choice but to return to Landry’s house. It was as if everything had gone back to the way it used to be, as if Landry had never gotten drunk and Wen Yu had never heard those “honest words.” Life went on in a hazy blur for twenty years. Once their little insect child came of age, Wen Yu decided to end this unhealthy marriage and took the initiative to ask Landry for a divorce… Theme: Secure your livelihood before pursuing love.
