Gu Shaoqing was a high-quality male insect, unlike the other violent or lecherous males. He was gentle, elegant, courteous, and an excellent cook.

In the five years since marrying his female lord, he had never taken another female insect into their home.

Gu Shaoqing's female lord, Major General Mo Anya, had topped the Empire's Most Envied Female Insects list for five consecutive years.

But one day, Gu Shaoqing's image appeared on the screens of the Public Security Office where Mo Anya worked.

He was hanging from a hook through his collarbone, covered in blood and grime.

Standing beside him was the grim-faced leader of the alien insect race. “Release my subordinate, or this male insect will be tortured to death right before your eyes. Major General Mo Anya, can you bear to watch your male lord be slaughtered in front of the entire insect race?”

The female insects at the Public Security Office went mad!

Only Major General Mo Anya, the man Gu Shaoqing loved most, remained calm. “You can make any other demand, but releasing an important criminal is out of the question.”

The other insects assumed he was acting out of duty to his country. But was that really the truth?

No one knew what Mo Anya was truly thinking:

As he remained silent, the alien insect leader grew more and more furious, his gaze dark and sinister. “Let's see if you can keep that defiant attitude in the time you have left.”

And so, while the insects at the Public Security Office watched, the torture continued for three whole days.

Mo Anya still refused to give in.

At last, the enraged alien insect leader threw Gu Shaoqing, barely clinging to life, into space during a live broadcast, in full view of every insect.

Everyone knew he was doomed...

And Mo Anya was on the verge of madness.

Why do we only understand what's most precious after we lose it?

Gu Shaoqing had thought he was doomed, too, but he survived.

When he woke again, he was on an unnamed junk planet, taken in by an older female insect with a disabled body.

After suffering cruel physical and psychological trauma, Gu Shaoqing shut himself off. But the man by his side slowly pieced his broken heart back together.

Just as he was finally preparing to face a new life, Mo Anya and the alien insect leader both showed up!

And both kept saying they loved him!

Gu Shaoqing: “...”

Alien insect leader, get as far away from me as you can.

And Mo Anya, I understand your choice. I don't hate you. I don't think the choice you made back then was wrong, either. But we can't go back...

The shou changes. The protagonist suffers early on, but things get sweet later.

The rightful shou's damaged limbs will heal later in the story.
