Pei Huaiqing rushes to curry favor with him, make amends, and lavish him with the kind of affection other females can only dream of. But none of it works. Xize’er remains cold and distant, like the bright moon in the sky, beyond anyone’s reach. Pei Huaiqing: Waaaah, he’s so cold… but he really is beautiful. In the end, Xize’er works with various factions from within and without to strip Pei Huaiqing of his noble status, reducing him to a lowly prisoner. Pei Huaiqing finally completes the plot and successfully assumes a new identity, leaving his false identity to die in the military camp. Then he gets himself together and happily sets off to travel the world!!! But in the middle of his trip, a military unit suddenly arrives, claiming they’re searching for Marshal Xize’er’s male consort. They say he cries easily, looks delicate and frail, and loves causing trouble? Pei Huaiqing, who fits every description, licks his ice cream. “Huh? Xize’er’s male consort? What does that have to do with me, Pei Huaiqing?” Xize’er loathes that male insect. He looks cute, but he’s always abusing people, and once he gets what he wants, he intends to cast them aside without a second thought. A consort? What a joke. He will never submit to any male insect in this lifetime. He plays with people’s feelings and stirs up conflict between two nations. He deserves to die a thousand deaths. But as they spend time together, he has to admit that this little male insect can sometimes be forgiven. So Xize’er endures the humiliation and plays along with him, taking his crown and stripping off his finery. He plans to imprison him in his own home, but lets his guard down for a moment, and someone else snatches him away. In the video, the once-proud and noble male is covered in bruises. His eyes are misty with tears, his gaze panicked and confused, and ugly tattoos have been hastily inked across his back. Laughter rings out all around him. The marshal panics and rushes back through the night, only to find a cold corpse. Rumor has it that the newly appointed marshal bravely put an end to the war and single-handedly reversed the fierce conflict between male and female insects. Weak seme and beautiful, powerful uke. The cold uke boldly pursues his lover from a thousand miles away; the seme isn’t clever. He’s an idiot. A groveling-redemption arc can never satisfy everyone. If you have very high standards for this trope, for example, if you hate the uke and insist on replacing him, don’t read this.
