Infinite NPCs Are Forbidden from Impersonating Players

Lin Shuyue was a sidelined cannon-fodder NPC in the horror escape game. His initial character settings included stunning looks, a frail body, and a kind heart...

Amid unspeakable horrors and bizarre creatures, he seemed like the easiest little victim to bully.

Of course, that was only how he seemed.

According to the story settings, Lin Shuyue was a man, yet he was always assigned roles like a mother.

At Rose Manor, he was the newlywed wife of the manor's owner, and was "pregnant" with a terrifying being. The players gave him indescribable looks.

In Forgotten Fairy Tales, he took in an abandoned ghost baby and raised it. The players avoided it, but he held the hideous child in his arms, patting it gently to sleep...

Lin Shuyue was so harmless and beautiful that the players who entered the instances all thought he was one of them. Instead of racking their brains to get rid of him like they did with other NPCs, they took good care of him.

"Shuyue, you can have this rare item."

"You're so frail. Don't take the night watch, I'll do it for you."

"Xiaoyue, if you run into danger, hide behind me. I'll protect you."

"Don't cry. You can have all my points."

To stay alive and care for the monsters he'd taken in during the instances, Lin Shuyue, a cannon-fodder NPC, had no choice but to disguise himself as a player.

The NPCs wouldn't hurt him, and the players doted on him. Before long, he had easily claimed the top spot on the leaderboard.

Lin Shuyue, who scrounged free food and board while raising monster cubs, was constantly on edge, guarding his secret identity for fear that the players, who were becoming increasingly obsessed with him, would discover he was an NPC.

The horrors in the instances always looked at him with terrifying eyes, too.

The monster cub he'd adopted was also very possessive. It glared fiercely at the other little monsters Lin Shuyue had taken pity on and cared for in the instances.

Yet Lin Shuyue continued to warm the horror escape game with his gentle love. Countless players who had fallen into despair and pain, along with monsters trapped in an endless cycle of pollution and mutation, had all been comforted by him.

They all saw him as the only light in the darkness.

His love nourished the world.

Notes:

1. The protagonist is extremely beautiful and charismatic, a saintly Mary Sue through and through.

2. The love interest comes in fragments. Both are each other's only one. One-on-one romance.
