"I know." Lu Chenye's voice was indifferent. He crushed out his cigarette and turned to leave, but a slender arm stopped him.

He raised an eyebrow. "What else?"

Ran Chu nodded, blushing as she whispered, "Everyone says you're my boyfriend, and no matter how I explain, they won't listen. Lots of people like you, and my notes were torn to pieces. I want revenge for them."

"And?"

"Well... how about we try dating?"

That very day, news that the campus heartthrob was dating an innocent transfer student spread across every division of the school group, leaving heartbreak in its wake.

At the graduation dance, Ran Chu accidentally learned that the rumor had started because of a bet, and Lu Chenye had only agreed to date her because he lost. She didn't cry or make a scene. She sent him a breakup message, deleted his contact information, and vanished for the entire summer.

When university started, she ran into Lu Chenye beneath her dorm. He was there to pick up the campus belle. They passed each other without so much as a glance from him. Yet that very evening, when a senior confessed his feelings to her, Lu Chenye carried her off in front of everyone. The aloof, aristocratic young master wore a mocking smile. "I never agreed to break up. Are you trying to cheat on me?"

At her birthday party, Ran Chu's lies were exposed. She had grown up in an orphanage, torn up her own notes, and pretended to be innocent. Their relationship had been a deception from the very beginning. Lu Chenye avoided her, and the people around him kicked her while she was down. Ran Chu signed up for an exchange program that very night and disappeared without a word once again.

Three years later, she joined the top company in her industry and came face-to-face with her immediate superior: Lu Chenye, the young, handsome CEO of the Lu Group, who had come to gain experience at the company and captured countless hearts. She thought he had long forgotten her and treated him like a stranger. Then, in a secluded corner, the legendary cold and ruthless Mr. Lu, who supposedly had no interest in women, pinned her against the wall, their breaths mingling.

He said:

"Ran Chu, listen up. These three years have pushed me to the limit. If you run again, I'll break your legs and keep you by my side for the rest of your life."

"Do you really care that much about that stupid bet? If I hadn't been trying to win you over, would I have thrown the bet on purpose?"

"Oh, I was the one who spread that rumor. You never looked at me properly, so what else could I do?"

"Please don't leave. I'm begging you, keep deceiving me."
