[Tears of a Withered Flower] The Sickly Rose of Fog City

[A short story, written for love of the craft]

[Please check out my upcoming novel, "Is It Illegal to Be a Landmine-Type? ^^" and my completed novel, "Taming the Villain, Day and Night"]

[Inspired by some imaginings based on the original film, so the ending is still tragic]

Ever since he happened to see that blonde girl through the window of a general store that day,

he could never forget her.

She often appeared in his dreams, calling his name.

His pillows and bedding were filled with his decaying, filthy fantasies.

He deliberately arranged chance encounters just to see her.

He treasured her like a jewel, not daring even to touch her.

Until one day, his father's friend made suggestive remarks about her.

On a hopeless night, he heard her sobbing softly in her empty bedroom, secretly making a wicked wish unlike any she had made before:

Please make that man disappear.

The next morning, a man's corpse was discovered by the river.

Ruth, pushed out of the crowd, slowly turned around.

The store was still there, but it was dark and dim, impossible to see anything inside.

Only through the glass could she clearly see the man kissing his beloved's cheek.

He submitted to her in secret, willing to tear out his heart and lay it before her.
