Everyone knows birdwatching and bird photography call for “long lenses and big guns.” The old guys by the park ponds have made that abundantly clear.
New birdwatcher Xue Yao has a “long gun” of his own. Brand-new and top-notch.
Hey, that zoom lens I scrimped and saved for really is something!
Look at that bird. What a colorful little thing!
Click! Flap, flap!
An unwelcome visitor makes Xue Yao so angry he sees stars.
Sir, what's wrong with you? Why are you scaring my birds away?
The man carrying an insect net and frantically trying to catch “something” is dressed like a caveman. He grins widely, showing off teeth as white as a toothpaste commercial.
“Hey, friend! You're a birdwatcher too? Out here ‘shooting birds’?”
Shooting birds, indeed. You really did shoot my bird right out of the sky!
Don't hurt the birdies!

This guy named Cui Ying doesn't just use that thing to “shoot birds.” He photographs ruddy shelducks from a motorized duck boat, hoopoes on grassy graves, and great spotted woodpeckers with a crawling bird nest...
As an apology, he thinks a few cherries will make it all right. Then he adds Xue Yao as a friend, repeatedly poses flamboyantly in the frame, takes him birding all over the place, and even sneaks in a little groping.
Xue Yao is close to tears: The pecs I've worked so hard on are nearly polished into mirrors! Blocked! I'm blocking him!
But when Cui Ying really does disappear for a while on a business trip, Xue Yao has a hard time getting used to it. It's like an addiction. Nobody's being a pervert with him anymore... and he actually feels a little disappointed.
No, this isn't right!
After waiting ages, Xue Yao is deeply impressed by the trailer for the nature documentary Cui Ying filmed on his business trip, and decides he can be flexible.
“Boss, take me along!”
After a long while, Cui Ying finally replies.
“Let me see your birds~ [Horny Bird]”
“? Pervert!”
“Hehe, what are you thinking? I mean the birds you photographed.”
“Oh, oh... [Spotted Dove] [Great Crested Grebe]”
Xue Yao: Sorry, I'm a horny bird, and I'm a top.
Cui Ying: An 0.8 is on the loose.
“Just as I thought, a harrier is a bird of prey in the hawk family too~ Want to give us a try?”
Birdwatchers are always in fine spirits.

* Yao in Xue Yao is pronounced yao4. Piti is pronounced pi4ti1 and refers to water birds in the grebe order.
* The hawk order includes the hawk family, which encompasses hawks, kites, vultures, eagles, harriers, and kuang2, among other genera. They are all birds of prey.
* Some inspiration and jokes come from the Little Bird Taro Ball series. So cute!
* Cui Ying studied robotics and works as a photographer. He is passionate about filming animals in their natural lives, including but not limited to using disguised cameras.

When I was new to bird watching, I thought that kind of video was real 💔💔💔, birds are good and people are bad [angry]
Not only those who chase the sea, some of those who chase the mountains are also very irritating. They wish they could move the whole mountain without thinking about what to do with the animals on the mountain [angry][angry][angry]. Yeah, while reading this chapter, I photographed a little bird on the opposite side. The beak and feet are red, and the tail is very long. I checked and it should be a red-billed blue magpie. I'm happy.
