A Couch Potato? I Was Born to Work

Jiang Yuan transmigrates from a desperate apocalypse into a peaceful interstellar age, finally getting the carefree life he has always dreamed of.

But after being bound to a System, he discovers that his future is not looking good.

His kind adoptive parents and most of the people on this planet will be killed by vicious space pirates.

Jiang Yuan: ... Help me up. I’m going to beat someone up.

The space pirates land on this backwater planet, ready to burn, kill, and loot, only to be crushed by a mysterious figure who appears out of nowhere. Their spaceship is smashed to bits, too.

His brother- and sister-obsessed older siblings will both die during a certain field exercise after getting into their dream military academy.

After his attempts to talk them out of it fail, Jiang Yuan: ... Help me up. I’m going to study.

At the Imperial First Military Academy, there’s an oddball freshman who has to be fed by his sister, carried by his brother, and watched over by both of them even during field exercises. The useless kid does nothing all day but sleep and slack off.

Then, during one field exercise, the useless freshman spots an imperial spy in time and single-handedly holds off all the beasts gone berserk, saving countless lives.

His classmates stare at him, dumbfounded: ... If he’s useless, then what does that make me?

After finally turning things around, Jiang Yuan plans to drop out, go home, and take over his adoptive parents’ farming business, lazing around in his hometown. But then the System tells him that his future roommate will destroy the entire world.

Jiang Yuan: ???

Looking at his enthusiastic roommate, who’s trying to wrest his “custody” away from his older siblings by bringing him food, doing his homework, and washing his clothes, Jiang Yuan can’t understand how someone so caring could ever destroy the world.

Impossible. Absolutely impossible!

But when the roommate learns that Jiang Yuan plans to drop out, he climbs into Jiang Yuan’s bed in the middle of the night and threatens him with a crazed, obsessive look: “Jiang Yuan, why are you leaving me? Have I been bad to you? Is it only after I kill everyone that you’ll belong to me alone?”

Jiang Yuan, face-slapped: ...
