Fifth Rebirth.
Bai Jin, a pitiful, harmless, nameless creature with soft tentacles that could grow or shrink, lay on a reef, lost in thought.
What he knew: in three hours, disaster would strike, and humanity would gain all kinds of supernatural abilities.
What he also knew: the strongest human had a rewind System, and after Bai Jin repaid his kindness, he had relentlessly killed him four times.
This was the fifth rewind.
He had gone from a terrifying tentacle monster that ruled its own territory back to a tiny little lump, only five centimeters across, in the days before the apocalypse. One stomp would be enough to kill him.
The only good news was that the strongest human didn't know Bai Jin had awakened all his memories from the previous rewinds.
In the distance, the familiar figure of the strongest human appeared, just as expected. He was carrying a long blade and heading straight for Bai Jin.
Tentacle blob: ? You're killing me again?
Is repaying a kindness a capital offense?
Bai Jin was furious. He decided to use his trump card.
He rolled over to the strongest human's combat boot and, with a plop, wrapped his tentacles around it.
"Squeak."
The strongest human, charging over to cut down his sworn enemy: ?
He picked up the little blob and looked at the future sworn enemy with an indescribable expression. Just as he was about to crush it, soft little tentacles curled around his finger.
Two more tentacles stretched out. Mimicking a human, they pressed together in a pleading gesture, bowing desperately to him.
Please, please, don't kill me. I'm already so miserable. I'm begging you.
If you kill me again, I'll get down on my knees and show you QAQ
The strongest human: ...
He stopped moving.
.
Lu Xunchen, Esper, space wielder, bound to the Rewind System.
After disaster struck, he was humanity's strongest, and was ordered to deal with a giant tentacle monster entrenched on the coast. He died in the attempt.
He loaded an earlier save and tried a different strategy, attempting to talk to the tentacle monster, which clearly possessed intelligence.
Then the tentacles dragged him inside and **** him again ****. After he was forced to carry a bellyful of eggs, he loaded an earlier save.
He decided to avoid the mission altogether and head downtown to look for supplies.
On the way, he picked up a child and casually raised him. When the child grew up, he tore open his human skin.
In the literal sense. The familiar tentacles were revealed underneath.
Lu Xunchen: ?
Before the tentacles could grab him, he loaded an earlier save and ran. This time, he decided not to pick up the child.
Then, a year later, a monster who had grown into a beautiful young man came looking for him. The other man squeezed his throat and smiled, lips curling.
"You were the one who abandoned me and left me to die, Brother Lu."
Lu Xunchen: .
Let's talk this out. Keep your tentacles to yourself.
He loaded another save. This time, he went straight back to the beginning of the apocalypse and headed for the coast, planning to kill the little monster before it had a chance to grow up.
Then he found a... palm-sized bundle of tentacles.
Who would have thought that a world-destroying monster had started out as nothing but a tiny bundle of tentacles?
Lu Xunchen looked at the little bundle wrapped around his finger and silently gave up on crushing it outright.
...There was no reason he couldn't raise it.
He was confident he could raise the monster to be normal.
Until one day.
Right before his stunned eyes, the little tentacle turned into the beautiful young man he knew all too well.
Not quite used to a human body, he knelt on one knee and propped himself up with his hands. Very obediently, he held out a round egg to him with his tentacles, stammering:
"A gift..."
When Lu Xunchen didn't take it, the beautiful young man flailed about, gesturing frantically. "My egg, for Brother Lu... To repay you. It's only for you."
Lu Xunchen: ...
Of course he knew it was an egg.
He'd had a whole bellyful of them before :)
