Ming Jian was bound to a Protagonist Shou Awakening System. The System told him that his story was called After Awakening, I Got Together with the Villain. His mission was to redeem the villain, Xiao B unmian, and prevent the small world from collapsing. On the surface, Xiao B unmian was a man of impeccable grace, an immortal above the clouds. Beneath that facade, however, he was gloomy and obsessive, an outright yandere. According to the original novel, the villain had secretly loved Ming Jian for years. After Ming Jian was pierced through the heart by the protagonist gong, Xiao B unmian slaughtered every immortal and demon in the entire city, dragging the whole small world down with him as a funeral offering. Ming Jian raised his eyes to look at the villain before him, whose eyes were red at the corners as he choked Ming Jian with both hands and said he would kill him. Ming Jian fell into a long silence. “...” Is this what you people in the cultivation world call a secret crush?! Just as Ming Jian had finally accepted the outrageous premise that the villain secretly loved him and had made it halfway through the redemption mission, the System encountered a data bug and went offline. When the System returned, it brought an absurd piece of news: It had bound itself to the wrong person. Ming Jian was not the protagonist shou, but a minor cannon-fodder character in the original novel who had a secret crush on the protagonist shou. Ming Jian turned his face to look at Xiao B unmian, who was fast asleep with his arms wrapped tightly around Ming Jian's waist, and fell silent once again. So much for lovers turning into rivals in a single day. Since he wasn't the protagonist, there was no need to win the villain over anymore. Ming Jian decided to obediently follow the cannon-fodder plotline. He would claim credit for saving the protagonist gong, take his place and marry the Holy Maiden of the Hehuan Sect, and bring the protagonist gong and shou together. On the wedding day, red candles burned bright. Ming Jian reached up and lifted the mandarin-duck veil, only to meet Xiao B unmian's eyes, clouded with dark, damp emotion. The man wore a crimson wedding dress, his black hair loose and his lips as richly red as blood. Inside the warm bridal chamber, gauzy curtains swayed. An icy bone chain coiled around Ming Jian's wrists and ankles like a living snake, twisting quietly as it blocked every possible escape. Xiao B unmian's scorching breath brushed close. He locked Ming Jian in his arms, pressed their lips together affectionately, and spoke gently. “You promised you liked me and would stay by my side forever... Why did you lie to me?” Ming Jian had been about to say something, but when he saw Xiao B unmian's long, damp lashes, he closed his mouth instead. Xiao B unmian was cold-hearted by nature. At first, he thought Ming Jian had come to kill him. He watched coldly, waiting to see how Ming Jian would try to kill him. Later, he fell ill with lovesickness. He couldn't stand seeing anyone else laugh and talk with Ming Jian, nor could he bear anyone coveting him or dreaming of touching even a hair on his head. Whenever that happened, his heart hurt as if it were being carved out and gnawed away, and murderous intent sprang up like wild grass. He wanted to lock Ming Jian away, to hide him, so that Ming Jian's eyes would see only him, and that warm breath would linger only by his ear. To make him... belong to him, completely and utterly. Reader's Guide: ① This is my take on a cultivation novel, with a theatrical shou and a yandere gong. The gong dotes on the shou, and he's a demon. According to the setting, he only recently came of age. ② Warning: the gong wears women's clothing, specifically a feminine wedding dress. Also includes confinement and forced love. ③ The System got the wrong person because of a period of data corruption. It only found out after correcting the data later on, so this doesn't contradict the blurb. ④ The gong only likes the shou. He was never interested in the original shou. The couple is endgame. ⑤ I'm fine with readers pointing out potentially upsetting content, but not with insults directed at the protagonist gong or shou. Comments like that will be deleted. Don't ask me why after they're gone. Feel free to say what you like about other characters. ⑥ The plot has drifted a little from the original blurb, which I've rewritten. His temperament was also unpredictable, violent, and bloodthirsty. Every groom sent to bring him good luck had ended up as a dried-up skeleton beside the River of Forgetfulness, without exception. Jiang Qunyu could only think that he was about to lose his life again. Before he could make a run for it, a pale hand lifted the sedan curtain, revealing a face so familiar he knew it down to his bones. Jiang Qunyu: ... Wait, shouldn't Wei Xun be in Yunque City, ruling as the Demon Venerable? How had he become Jiang Qunyu's dying husband? And what happened to their promise to let bygones be bygones and never see each other again? Why was Wei Xun holding him and kissing and licking him while he slept? “Jiang Qunyu,” he said in a husky voice that sounded half like a sigh, half like a curse. “Try abandoning me one more time. I dare you.” At first, Wei Xun hated the ball of black mist in his spiritual consciousness so much that he crushed it every time he saw it. Then Jiang Qunyu's soul scattered for the seventh time. Wei Xun's swordsmanship had reached perfection, and he no longer needed to sacrifice his inner demon to his sword. At last, the familiar noise was gone from Wei Xun's spiritual consciousness. He thought he would be happy. But in the years that followed, through lonely nights and cold jade steps, the silver bell tied to the tassel of Wei Xun's Soul-Eating Sword never rang again. Later, a tale spread across the realms of the living and the dead: the Demon Venerable had once knelt before the Hall of Eternal Life for hundreds of years, all to light a soul-returning lantern for that one inner demon.
