Everyone Who Hangs Around the Anime Scene Knows

Lin Youmian, 27, is the first assistant at Yixing Technology. Gentle and tactful, with a knack for getting along with everyone, he has been poached by numerous headhunting firms and is considered a model employee in his industry. But no one knows his secret. As a longtime anime fan, he started cosplaying in college and went to conventions whenever he wasn't working overtime. His biggest dream was to become a big name in the cosplay community someday, quit his nine-to-five job with its endless overtime and business trips, and enjoy a leisurely retirement. One day, after another familiar shift that stretched until ten at night, Lin Youmian habitually opened his phone and was left deep in thought by the explosion of private messages in his inbox. The next day, Lin Youmian resigned. In his resignation letter, he said he had a terminal illness and not long to live. After handing over his work, he vanished without a trace. - Qi Jue, 28, is the general manager of Yixing Technology. He's aloof and unsociable, handsome, and notoriously difficult to deal with. But he has a secret no one knows about: He's into anime. To maintain his cool image, Qi Jue kept it well hidden. Then one day, the cosplayer he'd admired for years went viral and was invited to an anime convention. His assistant's resignation was a headache, but getting a personalized autograph from his favorite cosplayer was even more exciting. - At the signing event, Lin Youmian, head bowed as he signed: "Hello." Qi Jue, sitting down and adjusting his glasses: "Hello, Teacher." They spoke at the same time, fell silent at the same time, then stared at each other. Lin Youmian: "..." Qi Jue: "…" "Teacher," Qi Jue suddenly said with a cold laugh, "your voice sounds a lot like that of my assistant, who has a terminal illness and not long to live." Lin Youmian: "...Yeah."
