[Journey to the West] Ne Zha and I Made a Promise

Wearing glasses and clutching her textbook, Yu Qing had only just graduated from elementary school when she arrived at Chentang Pass.

On the first day after transmigrating, she gazed at the moon and fell asleep against a tree.

On the second day after transmigrating, she traded her hair tie for a flatbread.

On the third day after transmigrating, a kind family took her in, and she finally got to sleep indoors.

On the fifth day after transmigrating, the kind family's daughter was taken away to be offered as a sacrifice to the Dragon King.

Yu Qing waved goodbye to the little girl and took her place on the road to certain death.

On the sixth day after transmigrating, Yu Qing was rescued.

Her savior was a young boy even shorter than her, who was ruthless and talked a mile a minute. He turned around and wrecked the Dragon Palace.

Yu Qing and her savior promised to become friends.

The boy danced around with red silk and flashed her a smug grin. "It's a promise!"

On the seventh day after transmigrating, her savior killed himself.

Towering waves surged, blood stained the horizon, and the System appeared.

"Your mission is to win him over!"

"Now I need you to retrieve a few treasures..."

"Okay."

Who knew how many days after transmigrating, Yu Qing stood before the temple her savior's mother, Lady Yin, had built, holding the treasures.

The System was beside itself with impatience. "Quick, quick, quick! Li Jing is about to come smash the temple! Nezha's spirit will appear! Hurry and use the treasures to make yourself beautiful! Become an immortal! Make an unforgettable first impression! The success of your conquest depends on this. You... what are you doing?!"

Yu Qing confusedly let go of Li Jing's collar. "Didn't you tell me to win him over?"

Everyone knows that to pursue someone, you have to cater to their tastes.

She didn't know what Nezha liked yet, but she knew all too well whom he hated.

The System was speechless. "Winning someone over isn't the same as venting your anger..."

"Wait, why is his affection going up?!"

1. A lighthearted, no-brainer power fantasy. The heroine is ridiculously strong, and has the cliched setting where taking off her glasses makes her stunning.

2. The pairing is my version of Nezha, and this is my version of "Journey to the West" (my apologies to Wu Cheng'en).

The plot has been heavily altered. Tang Sanzang's characterization is completely different, there is no Victorious Fighting Buddha, only the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, and Nezha's story uses the prettified version most convenient for romance. If that's not your thing, please don't read.
