I Have the Looks of a Second-Rate Passer

Xiaolu Sayuri's mother, Xiaolu Junko, was once a member of the national team's training squad before becoming one of its most indispensable starters.

Now retired at home, Xiaolu Junko naturally shifted her focus to her daughter, Xiaolu Sayuri.

Like her mother, Xiaolu Sayuri showed a great passion for volleyball from a very young age.

By the time she entered middle school, Sayuri had already earned the title of "Best Outside Hitter in the Nation."

And yet, Sayuri's biggest problem was...

"I'm clearly an outside hitter, so why do people keep asking me, 'Why aren't you a setter?'"

Seriously, do you judge who's a setter by their looks alone?!

Niiyama Girls' High School had always been the number one girls' volleyball team in Miyagi Prefecture.

Unfortunately, they always fell just short at the national tournament. Their best result was making the top four.

That changed when the principal invited her junior, Xiaolu Junko, former captain of the Nippon national team, to serve as head coach. That year, Niiyama transformed and won both the IH League and the Spring High championship.

Thus began their path to becoming the 'Empress.'
