A loyal general who seems stern but is actually a devoted romantic, the top, x a beautiful, frail madman who never hesitates to wield his blade, the bottom
A Che had always dreamed of confessing his feelings to Feng Lin on his fifteenth birthday. But what he got that day was Feng Lin's sword piercing his heart.
A Che was the Crown Prince's only son, carefree as he followed Feng Lin around like a little shadow.
But on the day he came of age, his entire family was slaughtered under the accusation that the Crown Prince had plotted a rebellion, and Feng Lin pierced his heart too.
As he lay dying in a pool of blood, A Che swore he would kill every one of his enemies.

Six years later, a beautiful young nobleman named Hua Fuchao appeared out of nowhere in the capital. With a face that could entrance all under heaven, he had the young nobles falling for him with a mere beckoning finger. A few soft words from him were enough to turn noble houses against each other. Everyone wanted to claim this peerlessly beautiful, fragile man.
Little did they know that the fiend who had crawled back from hell left a trail of his enemies' blood with every step.
Until only one name remained on his list of enemies: Feng Lin, the great general who had earned so much merit for killing the Crown Prince's surviving followers that he could be promoted no further.
They said he was peerless in martial arts, and no one could get near him.
They said he was pure-hearted and indifferent to everything.
They said he had a beloved who had died many years ago, and that he had remained faithful to that memory ever since.
A beloved? Who did he think he was? Hua Fuchao sneered. Then I'll take his heart, crush it underfoot, and feed it to the dogs. Let him find out how sweet betrayal tastes.
Hua Fuchao tried everything to get close to Feng Lin, tame him, and put a collar around his neck. At last, he stepped into the forbidden chamber in the Feng residence, a place no one was allowed near, and raised a dagger toward Feng Lin's unguarded back.
Feng Lin turned. The dagger sliced through his clothes, revealing a scar on his chest, almost identical to the one left on Hua Fuchao by the sword all those years ago, only deeper and more terrible!
"I tested it on myself many times before I was certain I could wound you just enough to make you appear dead, and fool those people." Feng Lin gently took Hua Fuchao's trembling hand.
"A Che, have you enjoyed killing all these years?"
A breeze swept in through the door, lifting a stack of paintings from the low table. On sheets both old and new, they all depicted the carefree boy from the Northern Frontier years ago.
A note from the author
1. This is extremely melodramatic. The plot follows the author's tastes.
2. Powerful leads + both untouched (What can I say? I love reading about powerful couples who clash head-on.)
3. If you like fake-death plots, the beloved being me all along, love-hate relationships, non-consensual confinement, and groveling redemption arcs, come join me! (doge.jpg)
4. The political scheming is kindergarten level, so just bear with it.
5. If you really don't like it, please don't be too mean. The author really will cry uncontrollably, sob sob. (I'll cry first, so you'll feel too bad to insult me, right?)
6. Wishing everyone happy days and an enjoyable read. If you're really not enjoying it, just close the book!
