I.
Donny transmigrates into a game adapted from a novel, becoming an obscure cannon-fodder female in a male-dominated military academy on Bug Star.
In every game ending, his life is brought to an end after he offends one of the academy's F4 female bugs. To stay alive, Donny carefully avoids every major plot point and tries his best to remain invisible.
Unfortunately, things don't go as planned.
In music class, Donny, who can't afford a violin, is laughed at and sent off to clean the toilets.
As he passes the private music room, the beautiful violin music played by Raphael, the female bug saint whom the Church has devoted its heart and soul to raising, makes Donny stop in his tracks.
Donny thinks: [It's like hearing the music of the immortals; my ears feel clear again. What a shame I won't get to hear it many more times. His Holiness the Saint will soon die from poison, and the Pope's illegitimate son will take his place.]
The next day, the arrogant Saint, who never even deigned to look at a bug, comes to Donny himself and tosses him a brand-new violin. With his nose in the air, he says, "This violin is broken, commoner. Take it and throw it away for me. Of course, if you want to keep it as a treasured possession, that's not out of the question."

In mecha class, Donny, who can't learn to pilot a mecha at all, quietly joins the support team and takes charge of cooking.
His spicy tofu draws Adrian, heir to one of the Zerg's top merchant houses.
The other students look at Donny with sympathy, because the last female who tried to win Adrian over with good food dropped out two years ago.
Watching Adrian eat five bowls in one sitting, Donny thinks: [They say a good appetite is a blessing. What a shame Adrian is about to be left with disabled legs after a car accident, and will develop an eating disorder. After that, no bug will ever come to enjoy my mapo tofu again. Sob.]
The next day, Adrian brings hundreds of his female underlings to eat in the cafeteria, and they finish off every bit of tofu at three nearby supermarkets.

In math class, Donny proves through practical experience that friendships drift apart and love fades, but math never changes. He really just can't do it.
After his teacher throws him out of class, Donny happens to arrive just as Oliver, the marshal's female child, is enrolling.
Seeing Oliver surrounded by admirers, Donny thinks: [No wonder Oliver is the male lead. He's ridiculously handsome. It's just a shame that when his wicked marshal of a father incites a general to rebel and the whole family is thrown in prison, his face gets ruined. Sigh...]
The next day, the whole school is divided into arts and sciences. Math class for arts students becomes horseback riding, and since Donny can't ride at all, Oliver, who is "approachable and loves helping his classmates," personally steps in to teach him.

Somehow, Donny, a female who can't do anything right, becomes the center of attention at the Zerg academy.
The F4 female bugs at the academy compete for his affection and pull each other's hair, while Donny knows nothing about it and thinks every day at the aristocratic academy is wonderfully peaceful.
Donny manages to make it to graduation, but he knows he is still headed for a fatal ending. With the change of imperial power, he is destined to be the cannon fodder, the illegitimate son of the Zerg Emperor who has been living outside the palace.
And yet...
The commoners support him.
The Church bows before him.
The financial magnates serve him.
The army protects him.
Completely bewildered, Donny takes the highest seat in the empire.

III.
The military academy on Bug Star is known for having easy admission and strict graduation requirements.
Some bugs who get in through connections have no chance of graduating, no matter what they do.
Donny is clearly not one of them.
Though his grades in his first year are terrible and he is constantly at risk of expulsion, starting in his second year he earns excellent marks in every subject through "his own efforts."
As the most outstanding female in Zerg history, Donny delivers an impassioned speech at the graduation ceremony. Its central message is, "As long as you work hard, you will be rewarded."
The audience erupts into applause.
Donny is so moved that tears stream down his face. Then, in front of all the bugs... he undergoes a second awakening.
The good news is, there was a reason Donny was so useless. He isn't a female at all. He's a male.
The bad news is, Donny has become the first male in history to graduate from the military academy on Bug Star...
The Male Zerg Association rushes over at the news and explodes when it sees Donny's grades.
Association president: "You're telling me this frail male with an F-ranked physique got an SSS in horseback riding and an SSS in marksmanship, and can even pilot a mecha??? D-d-do you have anything to say for yourselves?"
The horse remotely controlled by the Saint: ...
The moving targets doing their best to catch bullets with their heads: ...
The improved mecha that cost an enormous amount of money and resources: ...
The Saint: "So what? His Majesty the future Zerg Emperor is just that outstanding."
Adrian: "So what? His Majesty the Zerg Emperor, who will ascend the throne at the end of the year, is just that outstanding."
Oliver: "So what? His Majesty the Zerg Emperor, who will ascend the throne next week, is just that outstanding."
All the bugs: "So what? Do you have a problem with His Majesty the Zerg Emperor?"
Association president: ...
The principal, the F4, and the entire student body: "To preserve the honor of our military academy, Donny must ascend the throne!!!"
A Zerg novel with a male lead and a pampered, adored protagonist. The setting is wildly imaginative, and the story is mainly silly and fun.
(Donny: perpetually low-ranking female, happy-go-lucky airhead, the odd one out in every way, for now.)
Multiple pairings along the way, with pairings decided at the end. Since this is a Zerg story, there's no reason we can't all live happily together.
The blurb is being revised. Screenshot taken on May 22, 2025.
