The Great Merchant of the Island

Chen Songzhou lives in the middle of the sea, surrounded by countless islands of all sizes. There is no land for growing crops, and food is scarce. He spent three years sailing on a wealthy family's merchant ship, but earned no money and nearly lost his life.

By chance, he became bound to something called the System and drew Jiang Ruoying, who lives in the mountains, grows crops, and has rice to eat. The two began swapping lives.

Chen Songzhou was stunned:

"You can trade pearls for rice?!"

"You can buy fine silk with giant clams?!"

"Even seaweed can be used as money?!"

Jiang Ruoying lives in the mountains in the far north. The village is surrounded by mountains, and it takes about ten days on foot to reach the county seat. Apart from the meager grain harvested from his family's fields, they cannot even afford salt. That is, until he meets something called the System and makes the acquaintance of a man named Chen Songzhou.

Jiang Ruoying was stunned:

"You can trade rice bran for dried scallops?!"

"You can buy salt with scraps of cloth?!"

"The pine trees in the mountains are treasures?!"

To avoid getting the short end of the stick, and to give their families a better life, Chen Songzhou and Jiang Ruoying both set out as traveling peddlers, going from a little leaky boat to a great sea vessel, from a small county town to a grand city, and from small-time merchants to major traders!
