Out of sheer boredom, Liang Simin decided to marry Ji Yang.

Though they'd never gotten along since childhood and always fought whenever they met, that was fine. Marriage didn't have to be about happiness. It could be a nice way to pass the time.

At a banquet, they ran into each other by chance, though they were standing a good distance apart. They both turned their faces away.

People nearby whispered, "President Ji and his wife don't get along."

"Miss Liang hasn't given President Ji a kind look since they got married."

A young man standing nearby heard them and began to entertain some ideas. After a few drinks, he sidled over to Miss Liang, offering her quiet comfort and making small talk before saying tactfully, "Men are all terrible, but if I were in President Ji's place, I'd definitely be more obedient and wouldn't make you angry."

Someone offered Ji Yang a cigarette. He casually put it between his lips, glanced over at them, then suddenly stood up, kicked his chair aside, and sat down next to Liang Simin. "I'm not dead yet!"

Liang Simin disdainfully pulled the cigarette from his mouth and threw it away. "Smoking will kill you early. If you smoke again, don't come home tonight. Die out there."

Ji Yang went back. The person beside him still had a lighter raised, ready to light his cigarette. He waved them off. "I've quit. My wife is afraid I'll die too soon and leave her with no one to keep her entertained."

Seeing the others' puzzled expressions, he helpfully explained, "She loves me."

Everyone around them: "..." Speechless.
