Corrupting His Buddhist Virtue [I Want to Write a Male Lead Who's a True Devotee]

◆Austere × Flirtatious / Height Difference / Road Trip

A once-in-a-decade blizzard stranded Huai Ru in a small town at the foot of the Tanggula Mountains.

Her dog was also lost in the chaos. The next day, a young man followed the elder sister she was staying with into the courtyard.

"This is Master Gajimah," her sister said reverently. "He can communicate with the mountain gods. He came here himself to help you."

The young man nodded, prayer beads in hand. His features were striking and sharply defined, and it seemed that all the sunlight in the courtyard had gathered on the turquoise earring dangling from his ear.

Huai Ru always remembered the first words they exchanged. He said:

"Don't be nervous. I left the monastic life long ago."

-

Snowy mountains stretched into the distance, and colorful prayer flags fluttered in the wind. With every gust of wind came another prayer.

Huai Ru saw the man tilt his head back. His high-bridged nose and deep-set features framed amber eyes that seemed like bottomless lakes in the sunlight, golden lines rippling across his irises.

"My sister says each golden line represents a lifetime of merit. You have five, so you must have spent five lifetimes becoming an enlightened monk." Huai Ru smiled, full of curiosity about him. "I've also heard that if you practice diligently for six lifetimes, you'll attain an immortal body and reach perfection."

But he avoided her question and glanced at her instead. "I've seen one of your past lives."

She cautiously asked, "What was I like in my past life?"

"May you keep your youthful beauty forever, and may you be praised for your virtues."

"And what about you?"

The man remained silent for a full half-minute.

"May you pass through reincarnation and nirvana, never to forget or be forgotten."

-

"I knew you would come to see me in this life, so I waited here, simply as myself."
