How Do a Hamster and a Golden Eagle Fall in Love?

[Food-chain pairing: hamster (bottom) x golden eagle (top)] When Qiao Jiu'an woke up, he was inside a hamster cage. His memories were completely blank except for his name. But as a hamster, escaping was non-negotiable. Just as Qiao Jiu'an was carefully scouting the area and making a detailed plan, someone suddenly hung a tag on him and stuffed him into a much larger cage. Surrounded by a ring of ferocious beasts, Qiao Jiu'an, at the bottom of the food chain, went weak in the knees and collapsed into a little hamster pancake. Driven by his survival instincts, Qiao Jiu'an picked a target, clutched the tag on his chest, and bolted, diving headfirst into a mass of golden feathers. The golden eagle, resting with its eyes closed, opened them and looked down at the golden-haired hamster that had burrowed under its wing. Qiao Jiu'an poked his head out from the soft golden feathers, raised it as high as he could, and met the gaze of the golden eagle looking down at him. The golden, curly-haired hamster held up the tag on his chest, which had a big D on it. He was one fluffy little bundle. The big shot golden eagle was unmoved. Qiao Jiu'an had a sudden idea. The big shots probably liked the soft and sweet type. So Hamster D hid all his rebelliousness, wrapped his little pink paws around the golden eagle’s talon, and gazed up at him with big, pleading eyes. Then he gave the eagle a hamster wink. Eagle bro, please protect me QAQ No one knew what Golden Eagle 001 from the experimental base was thinking, but he really did take in this curly-haired hamster who had nothing going for him besides being cute. And he raised him for seven whole years. He used his own feathers to make a nest for Hamster D, let him sleep under his wing and sit on his head, and took him everywhere. Later, a sudden explosion hit the Federal Research Center. The central AI’s program malfunctioned, and the test subjects seized the chance to revolt and flee in all directions. 001 got a human name, Zhou Lin, but lost his Hamster D. Until he returned to this familiar experimental base once more. Zhou Lin held the familiar curly-haired hamster and smiled at the curly-haired young man in front of him, who was carrying a quantum cannon. Qiao Jiu'an, who had faked his death and then gotten himself into trouble, tried to hide the quantum cannon behind his back, looking guilty. “E-Eagle bro... let me explain...” Zhou Lin calmly stroked the trembling curly-haired hamster in his hand. “Sure, I’ll hear your excuses.” Qiao Jiu'an: “.” Hamster D settled comfortably into Zhou Lin’s palm as if he’d done it a hundred times. Qiao Jiu'an muttered under his breath “Go ahead and punish me.” “Anyway... I’ll do it again next time.” Reader’s Guide: ★ This story is also known as The Mouse Runs, the Eagle Chases, and the Mouse Can’t Escape Even with Wings and Curly-Haired Hamster Meets QD Eagle. ★ Written to indulge my personal tastes. A sweet romance with a love-struck protagonist. No political scheming or grand interstellar worldbuilding, just for fun. ★ Happy ending. A prequel to the black panther story in the same setting. The ending is the happy ending in Black Panther. Copy of the blurb saved on 2023/10/18 A fluffy cat story: Me, a Tabby Cat, Comforting a Siberian Tiger?! Find it in my column! Jiang Ye was reborn as a tabby cat. He had no owner, came and went as he pleased, and roamed a territory so vast he couldn’t see its end. Every day he woke up on a stone bed three meters wide, the sort of tattooed big shot with a whole gang of underlings. Jiang Ye kept himself sleek and glossy, with a body packed with muscle. When he strutted down the street, he was mighty and imposing. As an intelligent cat with a plan, Jiang Ye carefully scheduled which cafeteria’s windowsill he’d visit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each of the seven days of the week. When he was feeling peckish, he’d also take jobs helping humans find their pet cats, just for a snack. Though his territory was vast, Jiang Ye especially liked strolling around and patrolling the zoo. Not for any other reason: the meat there was truly delicious. Until one day, the zoo director tried to bribe Jiang Ye into taking a part-time job. Panda-grade milk in a bowl and fresh meat salad, both delicacies Jiang Ye had tried once and never forgotten. But Jiang Ye looked at the fierce-eyed Siberian tiger in the enclosure, and his confidently raised tail gradually drooped. It wasn’t that he was scared, obviously. Come on, the tattooed big shot wasn’t even afraid of a honey badger! But still... Jiang Ye looked at his reflection in the glass. Comfort a Siberian tiger? Him? Jiang Ye tried to refuse. But the zoo was offering way too much. Jiang Ye was sorely tempted. He steeled himself, puffed out his chest, and walked into the tiger enclosure. The Siberian tiger, restrained by special chains and a bite guard, stared at the tabby cat in front of him, blood still dripping from his wounds. The youngster, not yet fully grown and radiating spiritual energy, tentatively approached him, opened his mouth, and said “Easy, big guy. I’ve got your back!” Reader’s Guide: ★ At first, the little cat carries the big cat by the scruff. The top and bottom will take human form later.
