The Immortal Venerable Is in Danger

(Shadow Guard's Difficult Life is complete)

Immortal Venerable Wu Wang, Wei Chao'an, died in the war between immortals and demons four hundred years ago. Everyone on the battlefield saw him self-destruct his immortal spirit and kill the Demon Venerable single-handedly, restoring peace to the Three Realms at last.

After the battle, all the immortals said Wei Chao'an was dead and that Immortal Venerable Wu Wang was no more. But Xuan Shuang, Immortal Venerable Si Yannan, Wei Chao'an's sworn enemy, discovered that Wei Chao'an's life star had not fallen. It had only grown dim.

"Wei Chao'an isn't dead. If none of you will look for him, I will."

Si Yannan disdained associating with those hypocrites who sang Wei Chao'an's praises but had nothing to say about finding him. He searched the Three Realms alone, and kept searching for four hundred years.

One day, Si Yannan finally found Wei Chao'an in a tavern in the mortal world, only to discover that his body was frail and sickly, and that he had long since lost his former arrogance.

Wei Chao'an: You've got the wrong person.

Si Yannan: I'd recognize you even if you were reduced to ashes.

Ever since he was discovered that day, Wei Chao'an has had an annoying chatterbox by his side, constantly clamoring for him to regain his immortal powers and return to the Immortal Palace.

But Wei Chao'an doesn't want to. The mortal realm has countless beautiful sights and delicious foods. It's a fine, carefree life. When he dies, he can just find somewhere to rot, returning to nature.

But things never go as he wishes. His annoying companion keeps attracting annoying troubles. Demonic creatures harm people, monsters cause havoc, and former immortal friends pressure him to shoulder the burden of saving the world again. Things that shouldn't exist in the mortal realm keep appearing.

The trouble is, Wei Chao'an guiltily realizes that all these problems... are connected to him.

Wei Chao'an: As long as I live, the crisis won't end. I don't have much time left, so if I end things here, at least I'll be doing the world a favor...

Si Yannan: I won't let you die. I'll save the world for you. If you don't want to go back with them, then I'll take you away. Please... don't die.

Theme: Fear no desperate straits, for they temper the heart and make it steadfast.
