Ability-Nullifying [Apocalypse]

Thirteen years into the apocalypse, people with supernatural abilities have built towering walls to keep all mutated creatures out, but they still cannot prevent danger from arriving.

To survive, they venture outside the city by day to search for supplies, then patrol at night, killing mutated creatures that climb over the walls to launch attacks.

Rong Fei was once widely regarded as the strongest of them all. They say that on the night he fought off a horde of mutated creatures, eerie blue flames lit up half the sky, and not a single creature could cross his defenses. But ever since that night, Rong Fei has never used his abilities again.

Everyone says Rong Fei is washed up.

People's image of him has gradually changed from those dazzling blue flames to the two black daggers he carries.

One day, a powerful newcomer arrived in the city. He was a talented ability user, but had little real combat experience, so the leader decided to assign him to a veteran.

At once, many of the city's top-ranked ability users tried to recruit this valuable newcomer.

But the newcomer, Qin Yuyang, pointed at Rong Fei in the corner, his silver hair a mess and a hint of menace about him, and said, "I'll go with him."

Everyone thought Qin Yuyang was a fool who would choose a pretty face over his own life. Some well-meaning people even warned him, "That guy's washed up. Pick someone else."

But Qin Yuyang wouldn't listen. When he had first arrived in the city, he saw Rong Fei returning from a mission, covered in blood and terrifyingly imposing. Beneath the gloomy air of death, he seemed to conceal a beast's madness. Damn, he was captivating. One look was all it took, and Qin Yuyang could never forget him.

Rong Fei, however, was deeply resistant to having a "tagalong." He said, "There are so many capable people, and you pick a washed-up nobody like me?"

Qin Yuyang replied, "A washed-up nobody that no one dares provoke, even with just two daggers? I'd quite like to try being one of those."

But Qin Yuyang soon regretted it, because he discovered that Rong Fei was crazy.
