The Demon King Is Always Pretending to Be Weak

Ran Jie was the most powerful Demon King in tens of thousands of years. But after peering into the secrets of heaven and altering the fate of the demon race, he drew down heavenly punishment upon himself and had little time left to live.

After searching everywhere for a way to prolong his life and finding nothing, Ran Jie chose a beautiful place nestled between mountains and water. Taking on the appearance of an ordinary mortal, he lived in seclusion and waited for his life to run out, so he could return to heaven and earth.

Then one day, an injured Immortal Lord collapsed unconscious at his doorstep. The man was graceful and radiant as the moon. More importantly, the immortal power within him could actually suppress the heavenly punishment afflicting Ran Jie.

Ran Jie was overjoyed. It seemed he might not have to die after all.

Nie Huaixu, the Immortal Lord of Deliverance, had made relieving calamities and vanquishing evil his life's mission. But through a moment's carelessness, he was tainted by demonic energy and severely wounded.

He had no idea how long he had been unconscious. When he awoke, he discovered that an ordinary mortal had saved him. This mortal was aloof and otherworldly, like a cool breeze in the mountains. But now, tainted by the demonic energy Nie Huaixu had brought with him, the man was on the verge of death.

Nie Huaixu: He saved me, but I brought him harm. How can I get him to trust me and come with me to find a cure?

Ran Jie: I found a treasure. If I stay with him, it seems I won't have to die. How can I get him to let me stick around?

Later.

Nie Huaixu raised his sword and demanded, "How much longer are you going to deceive me, Demon King?"

Ran Jie smiled and took Nie Huaixu's hand, which had been secretly channeling immortal power into him to suppress the heavenly punishment. "If you truly hate me, why do you care whether I live or die? My lord, you prolong my life, and I keep you safe. The two of us have been entangled for a long time..."
