How to Reform a Dark-Route Protagonist

After Ning Cheng became a ghost queen, she wandered between heaven and earth for over a hundred years. She never expected that, upon opening her eyes, she would have a physical body again.

At the thought of eating piping-hot food again, Ning Cheng was so excited that tears welled in his eyes.

But he hadn't been happy for long before he realized he had transmigrated into a dark horror novel.

The novel's protagonist, Xie Huizhou, had been bullied by the entire student body while he was alive. He died just as supernatural phenomena returned across the world, absorbing the purest essence of ghostly energy and becoming the only primordial vengeful ghost. After that, he killed everyone in the school and turned the entire campus into his ghost domain.

Having never experienced even a hint of warmth, Xie Huizhou was exceptionally cruel. Anyone or anything that stood in his way, human or ghost, would be ruthlessly eliminated.

After rising to become the ruler of all ghosts, Xie Huizhou ordered the ghosts under his command to kill every surviving human, then made them turn on one another.

At last, after destroying the entire world, Xie Huizhou crushed his own primordial heart as the first ray of sunlight rose, vanishing completely in the morning light.

Ning Cheng's original body was part of one of the cliques that had bullied the protagonist.

In the novel, the more viciously someone bullied the protagonist, the worse their fate was sure to be.

At this point, Xie Huizhou had already been hanged in his room by his alcoholic father. As soon as Xie Huizhou became a primordial vengeful ghost, Ning Cheng would be the first expendable character he killed.

Ning Cheng: Ahhh, no! It took so much to become human again. I don't want to die so soon!!!

Using a secret spell, Ning Cheng marked Xie Huizhou's still-forming primordial heart. This let Xie Huizhou, whose mind was still a confused haze, instinctively regard him as the person closest to him.

If he was already the person closest to him, surely the male lead wouldn't try to kill him, right?

Ning Cheng thought this would make everything foolproof, but he never imagined that being the person closest to him meant... being his lover.

And even less did he expect the secret spell to fail.

Seeing Xie Huizhou's eyes turn gloomy again, Ning Cheng's heart skipped a beat. He promptly turned on his heel and ran.

But he hadn't gotten far before Xie Huizhou caught him.

"Why are you running?"

The handsome, sinister vengeful ghost lowered his head and drew the panicked Ning Cheng into his arms.

"Weren't you the one who cast a spell on me so I'd think of you as my lover?"
