What's wrong with liking setters?! [Updates daily. Unlimited paragraph comments, come join the fun!] Iwasé Megumi is an ordinary beta office worker, but he's the secretary to the most dazzling man in the world. His boss, Atobe, is a handful. The red carpet has to be covered in flower petals. He skydives to work by helicopter. He likes playing tennis hard enough to kill people, and as his secretary, Megumi has to risk his life accompanying him every time... It's hard to believe he ever had a crush on him! Luckily, he's a beta and can't smell his boss's pheromones, which saves him a lot of trouble. Unfortunately, he's a beta, with zero sensitivity to pheromones, so he's completely oblivious to everything going on around him. At first, everyone thinks Iwasé Megumi won't last as a secretary. Just when they all come to believe that only he can do the job perfectly, he announces that he's taking a long leave and quitting! More than 200 days of physiological bonding leave: he's practically dancing on the edge of resignation! But the problem is, Boss Atobe is still single. Where did he find an alpha or omega partner? * Atobe dislikes being controlled by alpha instincts, but that doesn't stop him from getting used to marking the things he likes with his pheromones. Things, for instance, and people. The whole slow-and-steady approach doesn't seem like his style, but he's always had exceptional stamina and patience since childhood. Yet after all that slow simmering, what he gets is... a leave application? And it's for physiological bonding leave, which a beta can only apply for if they have an omega or alpha partner! He never agreed to this. Where did that guy Iwasé find another alpha?! * As a well-read strategist, Oshitari offers his friend some advice: “The coercive romances in novels are way too much like criminal behavior. So given your current condition, no, situation, based on my experience, I suggest you just raise his salary.” “Or, if you want something simpler and more direct, use your family's huge swimming pool as bait.” Iwasé Megumi used to be a fish in Hyotei's swimming club. He's still a fish who loves money, so maybe... a lucky carp? Either way, he loves water. Atobe lifts his chin slightly. If it's only money, what's the problem? There's nothing money can't solve. And if there is, just double it. #We were never meant to meet, but I can spend my way into your heart# #The company isn't yours, but the boss is# #Atobe-sama's Guide to Raising a Lucky Carp# [Please note]: 1. A short sweet story, under 200,000 characters. It will be serialized on Sunday, with a 10,000-character update that day. The timeline spans a long period, with flashbacks to middle school and some competitive sports. 2. Pairing with Atobe, in an alternate ABO universe. 3. No need to tell me if you drop the story. It's fate that we met. Recommending the upcoming story "After Getting a Forum, I Can Hear the Villain's Thoughts" When the boss yells, I hand him tea. When he throws money around, I cheer. When he goes crazy, I pretend not to see. As a domineering CEO's special assistant, Lin Yuanyun gets by just fine with this workplace philosophy. Until one day, he gets bound to a strange forum. A hot post in red catches his eye "Poor Office Drone Lin: Sells His Labor, Loses His Ass, and Gets Dumped at Sea?!" The scapegoat workhorse has been squeezed dry by the capitalist! Lin Yuanyun: ??? If that's true, quitting would get him severance pay of N+3! But then the plot comes true. Drugged, given away... but nobody told him the recipient would be Gu Heng, the villain! The unsmiling man is gripping his collar, his gaze fixed on the bloody knot around his neck. His eyes are dark and sharp, as if sizing up an unexpected prey. Lin Yuanyun keeps a fawningly calm expression, but inside, his thoughts are galloping. [Oh no, what if the forum is right?] [Then the villain should be devoted to the protagonist. Great, my ass is safe!] [Go ahead and stare. It's not like you can hear me cursing you in my head.] But Gu Heng suddenly lets go of him and says in a low voice, “Interesting.” He really can see through him. Because he can hear Lin Yuanyun's thoughts. * What should you do if a villain who can read minds targets you? A: Flee overnight on the high-speed train (but the pay is too good) B: Pretend to love your job and act like you know nothing (your heartbeat gives you away) Lin Yuanyun picks C. He opens the forum and posts: "Urgent! What do I do now that the villain has discovered my golden finger?" The top-rated replies come flooding in: [Flatter him! You have to stay alive to get your benefits!] [Try seducing him. Better to get in bed than work like a horse for performance reviews!] Lin Yuanyun is shocked. My fellow wage slaves! Don't lose your workplace dignity!! But his new boss really does seem to want to start an improper relationship with him. Gu Heng pins down the hand holding the phone, glances indifferently at the screen, and speaks as casually as if discussing business. “Proper or improper...” “Guess we'll have to try it and see.” * Later, Lin Yuanyun discovers that Gu Heng isn't just a villain, he's a shameless villain too. “We're a couple now.” “So spending time with me and sleeping with me... don't count as work hours.” Lin Yuanyun: ???!!! 1. A seemingly spineless but actually strong-willed office drone bottom x an unconventional, polished CEO top. Two onions falling in love. 2. Both are inexperienced and dote on each other. A sweet romance. Theme: Tomorrow's hard work is hope.
