Training the Ice Emperor's Captain

[Upcoming novel: Becoming an Ordinary Doctor [ABO]]

There is something strange about all the children in the Akutagawa family.

Their daughter Gin is shy and quiet, and their youngest son Jiro only knows how to sleep.

When the old-fashioned-sounding Ryunosuke is asked about his ideal career, he says, "Assassin."

Akutagawa Dad: ?

Akutagawa Mom: Why don't you play tennis with Jiro instead?

You need to pass a physical fitness test to become an assassin, and you'll have to throw punches for real!

Some unknown genius assassin in Yokohama can't help sneezing.

Ryunosuke doesn't think much of tennis, that feeble sport, until he discovers...

You can kill people with tennis?!

Ryunosuke, now working frantically to learn tennis: This world is so dangerous!

*

At first, Ryunosuke only wants to master the art of killing people with tennis.

But the white-haired senior with blue highlights dumps the captain's position into his hands.

White hair with blue highlights: I'm counting on you to lead Hyotei to the championship.

Ryunosuke: Confused and baffled, but does as he's told.

He leads Hyotei to the championship and to the top, then hands the captain's position to Atobe.

Atobe, all Hyotei captains have highlights. You're not one of them!

The dazzling Atobe: ?

[News Bonus] U-17 World Cup interview:

Reporter Yukimura: "Akutagawa, what is your goal?"

Ryunosuke, calmly: "Eliminate all our enemies."

Reporter Yukimura: "Ha ha, you're determined to defeat them, then?"

"No." He clasps his hands together. "I mean eliminate them in the literal, physical sense."

Off camera, Tanejima whispers, "Why do I feel like he's not joking?"

Tokugawa frowns. "You don't just feel that way. He's really not joking."

Yanagi: Remember you're a writer who can't even hurt a fly, Ryunosuke...

Everyone thinks the murderous-looking Ryunosuke Akutagawa of Hyotei loves tennis more than anything, and pursues its ultimate form even when he's sick.

But only Jiro Akutagawa knows that his brother's dream is actually pretty simple.

Ryunosuke just wants to be a tennis assassin.

#Weren't you supposed to become a tennis player?!#

#Is Rashomon a tennis-killing move or a people-killing move?#

#Aren't you a writer???#

Don't let the chapters pile up! Updates will come quickly, QwQ

1. Ryunosuke-centric, at Hyotei, one year above Atobe.

2. Everyone has wins and losses on the way to the top. No character bashing. The supporting cast gets a lot of focus. Everyone gets a happy ending, but readers with extreme character biases may want to skip this.

3. The protagonist will join Spain's U-17 team later on. I thought I could handle the super-fantastical tennis at the World Cup, but the truth is that it's not even one ten-thousandth as outrageous as the original... Things will get ridiculous.

4. The characters follow the latest official character settings, so some details will naturally differ from older fan interpretations. Please don't ask why things are different from fanon. That's how they are in the original!

5. The Prince of Tennis characters' appearances are based on the anime, and the Bungo Stray Dogs characters on Harukawa's original illustrations (I can't stand Arai's ugly designs).

6. The merged world has plenty of bugs. This novel is just the author, Anshu Wen, losing it after smelling too many eucalyptus trees.

Upcoming novel: Becoming an Ordinary Doctor [ABO]

Wen Yushu arrives in the three-thousandth year after humanity fled the wasteland.

As expected, Earth has exploded again, while humanity has evolved into six sexes. And he has, gloriously, become a wanted fugitive on the run.

Wen Yushu: ...Is this right?

No identity papers, illiterate, no skills whatsoever...

Just after escaping the execution line, Wen Yushu steps into the Common Star United Academy, only to end up in a notoriously awful major.

Medical intervention officer: a profession devoted to treating AO individuals in heat, and a beta-friendly supporting-character profession with the highest casualty rate.

At school, an honor student who is an omega pretending to be a beta begs him to make a custom suppressant during their heat.

His unruly, busty beta roommate suddenly gets pregnant and runs away with the baby, leaving him to deliver it.

Off campus, an influential omega threatens him into performing an unlicensed gland-removal surgery.

An Alpha who's also undercover demands that he help with a sex change...

Wen Yushu: ...I only know how to kill people! What happened to my overpowered hero special-forces soldier story?!

At first, everyone thinks he's a weak beta who got lucky and survived.

Until he turns the earth into scorched wasteland, turns battlefields into seas of blood, and saves humanity from disaster against all odds, becoming the savior of the galaxy...

[Interstellar Broadcast: Feared and revered by alien races, honored guest of the intelligent machines, and humanity's savior, he should be the light of the galaxy!]

[Galactic Oracle: Heretic to the faith! An alien among his own kind! A scheming politician and mastermind! He is the greatest threat of all!]

[Deep Space Watch: Politicians love and hate him, not only because he knows every family's secrets and has a handsome face. Can't you see that he doesn't even blink when he kills people?!]

Wen Yushu sits amid a field of wreckage, casually wiping the slime from his hands. He smiles faintly. "But I'm really just an ordinary medical officer."

Xie Changying is humanity's dawn, the Star Alliance's chief, and its youngest general. The entire galaxy considers him Wen Yushu's greatest enemy.

And yet...

"You have to take responsibility for me." The young Alpha buries his face in his nemesis's neck. "My dad said an Alpha's neck is only for his wife to touch..."

On the first day of school, this beta had pinned him to the ground in front of everyone, holding him down by the neck. The warmth of his hand passed through the rubber gloves to Xie's gland, and even his breath had boldly brushed through Xie's hair. Then the beta had made him furious with a single casual remark.

Now Wen Yushu, the evil beta, can only pat his gland and helplessly tug down his collar. "Go ahead and bite."

Who could ever outsmart you!

Theme: Get plenty of exercise and stay in shape.
