Computer Girl on Standby: Western Crossover

Jason Todd looked back on the life he'd lived and discovered, unsurprisingly, that there had never been a single thing in this world that truly belonged to him.

He had wandered through Gotham's filthy alleys, trying to survive until the next sunrise;

He had slept soundly in a castle's soft bed, leafing through countless books filled with the accumulated knowledge of history;

He had flown above the gargoyles sleeping in the darkness, becoming one of the things that haunted the night and fighting alongside them...

But there was nothing in this world that belonged to him alone.

The irony was that while his mind was clear and he was fighting for his life, all of it had been nothing but a fleeting dream.

When he returned from the murky pool, unable to tell right from wrong in the here and now, a star came down beside him.

Enid is a humanoid computer.

Before she was given the name Enid, she was simply a humanoid computer.

To Enid, the name Jason Todd means many things.

He was the first human she met when she opened her eyes, her very best owner, her gentle and awkward teacher...

Most importantly, he was the person she loved most.

[Reader's Notes]

1. A passion project inspired by revisiting an old anime. The female lead is an original character, with her character and background based on Chobits. Since the anime is quite old, I've added a great many personal details to the character, so please don't scrutinize them.

2. Jason is the pairing. I will always love him! I really do love Jason!

3. The heroes belong to everyone; any out-of-character writing belongs to me. Believe me, I really love every member of the Bat Family, but sometimes I can't help wanting to crack open Batman's head and see how his brain works.

4. I'm too old for angst, so this is a sweet little story. It's my take on the DC universe. Just say it's a parallel universe where anything is possible.

Theme: Never give up hope.
