Matsuda from the Special Division

Jinpei Matsuda knew he could see things that ordinary people couldn't. In theory, a kid his age who discovered he was different from everyone else should think he was the chosen one. But Jinpei Matsuda didn't. Not only that, he wondered if he'd blown up the entire galaxy in his previous life, for this was what he had to face in this one. In realms beyond ordinary people's ability to observe or understand, strange, dangerous, and mysterious "creatures" lurked. The more people knew and the deeper they ventured, the more likely they were to go mad, and the more likely they were to be buried in that realm. Jinpei Matsuda didn't want to become a lunatic or a corpse. But when a special department discovered his talent and recruited him, Jinpei Matsuda verified their claims and joined without hesitation. "For the public good, I am quite willing to accept death." Though his colleagues were all a little off because they dealt with the "unnatural" year in and year out, and their odd behavior sometimes made Jinpei Matsuda think about quitting, he kept the job a secret from his family and friends and worked there from the age of ten to twenty-two. The special department had no concept of children, so they didn't mind employing child labor. At twenty-two, Jinpei Matsuda took the police academy entrance exam. Then the interviewer suspected he wasn't quite right in the head. Jinpei Matsuda: ? You've got to be kidding. Sure, he'd dealt with the "unnatural" since he was ten, spent years on the edge of life and death, and often tried to take the unnatural down with him, but his mental state was perfectly fine! ...At least, better than his colleagues'. His dear childhood friend looked like he wanted to say something, then finally went along with it. "Yeah, Little Jinpei's mental state is great!" His classmates kept quiet about this sensitive topic, afraid that one wrong word might push the curly-haired guy's already precarious mental state over the edge. They could only look at Jinpei Matsuda with barely concealed worry. What do you do when your classmate never realizes that there's something wrong with his mental state? Jinpei Matsuda: ??? What's so strange about wanting to take your enemies down with you, slitting your wrists and bleeding without batting an eye, or fighting normally even when your wounds split open? That's perfectly normal. It's just standard procedure at the special department. Theme: The people's interests come first
