The Deduction System Is My Childhood Friend

※※※ There will be some forum posts, but they won't take up much of the story. Aside from the System itself, there are no particularly unscientific settings.

[Kenji Hagiwara, congratulations on being reborn.]

Kenji Hagiwara has been reborn.

He's about to start his second round at the police academy.

And he's brought along a cold, aloof System calling itself 1107.

But none of that matters. First, he just wants to see his childhood friend, to whom he left a "joking" last message.

But when he knocks on his friend's dorm room door, an unfamiliar guy answers.

[This is a world where Jinpei Matsuda is the only one who doesn't exist.]

"I refuse to believe that a past without Jinpei Matsuda is my past."

"I've already died once, so there's not much left to scare me. Either give Jinpei Matsuda back to me, or just send me back to the timeline where I died."

The half-long-haired young man lets all his usual levity fall away, revealing a cold, sharp edge.

[Trust me. Complete the mission, and he'll return to this world safe and sound. You'll have a future together, too.] The calm electronic voice replies.

[Some time later]

Even though it uses a common electronic voice that's available everywhere as a free download, he can't help feeling that the cold System "Nana-chan" is starting to seem more and more familiar.

Kenji Hagiwara rests his chin on his hand, lost in thought.

He has a feeling... Hmm, could it be... No way??? Aaaaaaaah!!!!!!!

Note: The story appears to give Hagi a lot of screen time, but there's no doubt that Jinpei is the number one protagonist.

Happy ending!

Content warnings: No pairing, but the Detective Conan childhood friends are very gay-coded; Matsuda gets catified.

Message: Where there's a will, there's a way. After the storm, a rainbow will surely appear.
